I think it's great that our performance was so good that the only thing worth arguing about is whether there was any wind! :)
There’s no argument :p there was wind 😆
What would they know, they were only at the ground.

Nicks has built an amazing off field team. I honestly thought we were going to need another year before we see the effects of Burgess. While our goal kicking was pretty average, our decision making and skills have improved so much since Rd 1.

Is it too hopeful to think finals are on the cards this year?
Win the next two and that puts us at 5 and 3. If we can be at 10 and 6 after round 16 we should make finals with 13wins. We do play north and west coast twice.

The remarkable rise of Billy Frampton

It's often a last-ditch resort with tall forwards – throw them in defence and see what happens. After a few shaky games and moments, Frampton was immense against the Dogs, recording a career-high 26 disposals at 89 per cent efficiency, 10 intercepts, nine marks and 502 metres gained.
He's been building towards that game ever since we put him in defence in the SANFL late last season. That's why I wanted us to persist with him there. His ceiling is Nathan Bock at centre half back

There were quite a few really poor decisions. Another was the failure to award a 50 for blatant encroachment into the protected area with about 5 mins left to go after we had taken a mark. Cannot remember the players. Should have been a shot 10-15m out.

I also can’t fathom why Gollant’s marking attempt in the 3rd Q was unrealistic.
It wasn’t Gollant’s attempt, it was McAdams.
Still a bad decision.

There wasn’t a breath of wind. I was begging for it after a couple of beers and the sun. I honestly think both teams put enough pressure on that kicks were shit and the goal kicking well I can’t answer that but both were horrible at that too

First qtr I sat on the outer wing in the sun begging for cloud cover or a breeze

Qtr time went round to get a beer from behind the big screen and realised there was a breeze there and some shade under trees - also found two doggie supporting mates so relocated there and from them definitely noticed a flukey breeze

Rachel's set shot looked weird in the last it looked like he tried kicking it at the left goal post but put too much ,"inside out" on the ball with his foot... Almost banana'd it kinda thing - but haven't seen a replay so I may have imagined it

There were still a few boos whenever he got the ball
You cant even really hear it or notice it much whilst watching on tv..

Its definitely not turned out as bad as what the media and tex haters claimed it would be when it was discussed last year that he could be booed into retirement. Just more hysterical nonsense from the media..

The thing with tex though.. he’s one of those guys, bit like David Warner, who knows he aint that popular and instead of letting it get to him he actually feeds off it and uses it to lift his game to another level..

I’ve just watched the McHenry and Rachele and Walker shots in the last 5. McHenry and Rach just butchered their kicks much in the way you described.

Tex’s just bent nicely back in. Wouldn’t have said it was wind assisted what so ever.

I sat on the 50line in the stand right next to the hill and needed more cloud and wind as well. Was considering going for a walk to find some shade somewhere

Tex thought so

He could have kicked it back to whoever passed it to him to kill some more time.. I think it was smith? But he wanted to kick it down the line to a contest.
I don't have an issue with the choice to go down the line. We didn't want another Thilthorpe/Freo sort of mess. If he didn't butcher the kick, it gets thumped over the line. A throw in at that spot at the ground would've been fine.

Ugly, Tom Rockliff going a round too early on calling out the Crows rebuild as standing for nothing and having no gameplan.

Lesson learned tripleM. You hire an ex Port power player. You get and ex port power players level of intelligence
The thing with those comments is he completely miss read our situation.
We have definitely always stood for something with Nick's. Question was whether he was actually rebuilding a team with kids or hoping to we could go for a quick resurgence with some left over oldies rather than playing the kids.

Probably lucky he didn't try kicking backwards given how he kicked it

How good was the pass from Tex to Mchenry in the last 5 minutes?

There were a couple of easy options at cruddy angles but Tex found the best target and hit him perfectly with a low dart.

Not quite on the same level as his pass to Cameron in semi final at the MCG but still exceptional play. Shame Mchenry missed but it was a 7 point play that got us over the line.

Love that Frampton is starting to show glimpses of a brilliant defender. Still a long way to go, but having games like that will do his confidence the world of good. I think his fumbles and glaring mistakes have often been panicky due to his new position, a moment of "oh shit im close to the opposition goal". Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves though, his game today was Nathan Bock AA 2008 level of good. If he can put 4 or 5 really good performances like that together this year, next year he might put it all together. Bock actually followed a similar path. 5th year was moved to defense and it all clicked.

Imagine the melts from Port, they would be delicious.

So Excited Reaction GIF

I can feel something special brewing

Credit to brownie. He has become a more defensive player in recent years which I think has reduced his influence on the game but his nullifying of Cody weightman was a significant part of our victory

He has blanketed a few players this year to very good effect

Considering the number of senior players we've discarded and how young the side is, that question probably answers itself.

Ha ha not sure we are ready to call him a brilliant defender

No surprise, really, but Ch9 FS has given the Crows scant recognition for the win.
Apparently the Dogs played badly, their forwards didn't try, the Coach has lost the plot etc etc.

Frampton was mentioned but only as if to say the Dogs played so poorly he was made to look like a star.
Kornes: "The Dogs were beaten by a bottom-4 side" ... .

Tbh, I'm happy that the Crows are flying under their VFL-radar. Others can now underestimate the Crows at their own peril.

Edit: by contrast, PA are "back"
