Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Shouldn't we start to see a few new accounts & some re-badged 'burner' or alias accounts popping up about now?

I am wondering what cupboard the moderators locked Hawthorn2023 in.

You’d have to offer a shitload more than 6 and Tom Mitchell to somehow get Pick 2 coming back to us, because you’ve got to give two clubs reason to feel that 2 can’t land with them.
What about if the makeup is salary related? We help the Pies out with their salary cap issues. Melbourne get Grundy to replace Jackson. We lose pick 6 and a second rounder and cap space for pick 2. Pies gain pick 6 and cap space.

Exactly the type of person we need at the club. Can see the direction and the style were going with and wants to be a part of it. Bruhn should have taken heed instead of getting seduced by where the Cats are presently. Rather be in Karl's shoes in 2 years than Tanner's except he doesn't realise it yet.

Okay, here goes. Let's say Dunkley nominates the Lions and they want sufficient points for a likely bid on Ashcroft at pick 1 and let's say Fletcher at pick 25 as I mentioned before. This requires 2,400 points (3,000 points plus 20% discount) for Ashcroft and 559 points for Fletcher (756 - 197 fixed discount). That is 2,959 points - which would baiscally be their current haul of picks (2,086) plus the likely McStay compensation bid (roughly 900 points depending on AFL formula BS and ladder finish). Dunkley will at least cost them next year's first from the Bulldogs in this event - so any points deficit is going to hit them hard. So in this scenario - do you really think it is feasible to then go apply the screws to the Lions in trade talks for Gunston or do you think they would baulk at that and move on to more pressing deals for players with far more years to offer than Gunston?

In addition to this - clubs don't generally * around with players in Gunston's position - let alone when you consider what he has been through late this year. As I have said, I don't mind us getting aggressive with particular trades but I doubt we would win many admirers for dicking Gunston around if he wanted to head north.

So in this scenario what do you honestly see the Lions giving us to secure Gunston? Come on - you've had your tantrums and name calling, what do you think we will get out of him? Clearly you have strong feelings on this you're not willing to share - join the fun of the hypotheticals.
I like how a hypothetical of 24, 27 (Tom Mitchell) and Gunston for pick 13 and doesn’t effect compo was shot down by you because it didn’t equate to enough points 30 odd pages ago and now you’re talking about points matching like some guru.
I offered this “hypothetical” and so did someone else.
As for having a tantrum someone only need to mention a deal for Jack Gunston and set you off with numerous posts.
The fact remains Brisbane need points to match from somewhere and I’ve given you an option as to how “hypothetically” we could get involved.
Does it happen? I have no idea.
Welcome to the hypothetical thread where Jack Gunston for a fourth rounder doesn’t need to be said every second post.

They've got pick 6. We want it.

The good news is, list sizes are capped so not everyone can play for Geelong 😂
It's becoming a bit of a joke. Had they been more successful during this period the AFL would have put a stop to it long ago. This is not supposed to be the Premier League where only the rich and successful clubs prosper. 1 way to fix it is Geelong or anyone that benefits the most during trade period every year can't bid for any FAs for 2 years or something like that. Sure those clubs will bitch and moan about it but couldn't care less. Doubt that could be feasible but there would be no sitting on their hands about it.

That's a 276 point gain. I think it would take more than that to get them interested. It would also require Tom Mitchell to be traded for pick 27 which is far from a certainty at the moment. Also pick 27 is presently held by St Kilda - since when are they in the Mitchell equation?

276 point gain but here’s the kicker you also get the McStay compo to use for points and Jack Gunston.
St Kilda made enquiries about Mitchell and Hawthorn should be making Collingwood or any other suitor get a pick around this mark.
