Firstly, the "No Kane Cornes" Rule is back

Any discussion of leadership needs a heavy dose of Hardwick. Then a bit more.
No, because if you ever get to training you’d see he’s not a leader like the others. He just goes about his business with a minimum of fuss.

Absolutely a leader on the field though. Enforcer who will take on anybody and is first to put someone who crosses his teammates into the fence.

Unfortunately for us hawks fans- mitchell has a lot of work ahead of him undoing the short term list management of the ( end of the) clarkson era.
My 2 c is we need to bunker down- enjoy the wins we get, hope we draft a couple of stars and enjoy

it can turn fast my friend

Yup - have to buy pick 7. Players not on the Bowes money might be a bit miffed but they’d understand the reasoning and benefits behind doing it. Club should be doing everything possible to get that deal done if we can convince the kid to come here.
Yup, players will understand. The Planets have aligned for Bowes, it’s not the norm, it rarely happens.

Maybe throw in a 4th year and make it a 2.6 to 2.7m deal and load up the front end even more.

I can’t see Bowes or his manager walking away from that.

Trouble is, we cannot convince the kid. He wants Geelong. The GCFC know we are well placed to manage their financial expectation.

Convince our Coach to do everything he can. That is the disappointment. Anyway, let’s get him for Pick 7

2023 is gonna be one long year

Tanking for Harley Reid
LOL, we’re barely a week out for the end of season 2022 and already putting up the white flag.

Francis old man lives in Adelaide so that would be a pretty nice fit for him getting to the Power.

Gunston loss along with Mitchell will hurt short term, every possibility we struggle to win 8 games in 2023.

Which is not to bad in a very strong draft. All next years picks should be off limits in trades this year. And try to add to them if possible.

No, you're not, but we're also not bereft of leadership, it's just much younger than we've had for some time.

Sicily, JOM, Breust, Moore, Lewis, Worpel, Chad, Morrison....
And younger still, Day, Ward, MacDonald all show signs of having leadership qualities.

Losing McEvoy, Gunston, Shiels potentially Mitchell leaves a massive leadership void at the club.

Apart from Mitch Lewis & Punky have no confidence in where our goals will come from if Moorey spends more time in the middle.

Do not mention Kozi. Please….hopefully delisted end of next season.

We are investing in youth and this will take a full rebuild.

Unfortunately Clarko set the club 5 years backwards by topping up at the end of 2016 when the rebuild should of began. Tried to squeeze another flag and it didn’t work.

Terrible on-field body language.
(much better this year than previous, but largely because his personal performance improved)

Not a leader for mine.

(and key forwards rarely are)

Sam Mitchell has gone on record of praising the leadership developed by both Lewis and Dylan Moore over the past 12 months.

getting in Amon to lose Gunston defies logic

we delisted or retired 6 experienced players and will trade one out (Tom)

gUNSTON needed to be retained even on a 3 year deal on good $$

our list management post 2016 garbage (flag players allowed to walk for no return + the recruitment of multiple failures eg Vickery Patton etc) whereas Geelong s excellent (Cameron danger smith etc ) hence top 4 every year for them

Poor

I wonder if they will bring in any DFA’s just for the bigger bodies for the kids on a 1 year contract like we did with Henderson a couple of years back.

It wasn’t an Amon or Gunston decision ?!?
and the 6 experienced players are all - wait for it - old, slow and/or past their best.

We made our offer, and Brisbane made theirs. He (unfortunately) chose Brisbane, for a range of factors not necessarily including money.

As a fan of Gunston, it sucks...but shit happens.

Worpel and Moore are only a year younger than Mitchell/Hodge when they became captain

Gaining a 27yr old wingman when we have almost none defies logic because a 30yr old forward went to a top 4 team?

Wat.

it s a recurring theme ...smith a few years back

pointless to get a free agent in. then to lose one unless the one that comes in much better

all the delistings have been spot on but today set us backwards and continues the poor trend of the past few years
