Any chance we can set up a poll to see how long it takes this board to move through the stages of grief once Bowes nominates Geelol? I'm predicting it will be something like this...

Shock - A few hours
Denial - About a day
Anger - many will be stuck here for a while 🤪
Guilt - A few hours
Depression - many will be stuck here for a while 🤪
Acceptance - I'm here now :)
New hope - I'm still a long way away :(

There should definitely be a public holiday for all Hawthorn fans if we miss on Bowes.

Need to invite Bowes into an office and lock the door until he signs.

I think we're already in denial.

To make it look like it hasn't been concocted
What negative repercussions would Geelong, the AFL or Bowes face if it did look like it was concocted?

None, as far as I can see.

You wouldn't bother, would you? "I'm going to Geelong and everyone else can eat shit and die.."

I am ok with that. But a restructured contract at another club (as part of a salary dump) should not be allowed unless there is fair and equitable trade involved. I couldn’t give a stuff if he goes to the Cats but they should have to pay out his existing contract of 1.7 over 2 years if the AFL wants to allow salary dumps involving ridiculously uneven trades. If the Cats can fit that remaining contract in their salary cap after winning a flag good luck to them.

Why? You're only restraining the player if so.

Bowes has every right to pick whoever he wants to play for, and adjust his contract however he wants to. His career. His choice. His contract.

People are seriously sooking it up.

I’m saying the AFL don’t like it. Goes against any equalisation measures they have put in place
You reckon? I was told a while back we should all suck it up because we were good once too. Don't recall getting pick 7 after winning a premiership or topping up with potential young guns at the start of their career from other clubs. McEvoy, Lake and Frawley all came in the 2012-2014 window. It lasted 3 years. Cats have been doing this since 2016 it's only now they achieved success that the AFL are frowning upon it?. Excuse me while I call Bullshit when I cough.

Imagine if Buddy was traded half way through his contract....

Ive been at new hope for a week but wondering what we will do with a future 4th

While we're at it....

Mercurial means inconsistent and wildly varying. Not exciting, not elusive, not x-factor.

Steve Motlop was mercurial.
Cyril Rioli was not.

Charlie Cameron is not mercurial.
Joe Daniher is mercurial.

Eddie Betts was at times but his best seasons were anything but mercurial.

Pressure forward aren't mercurial if they keep up the defensive pressure just because they have some 4 goal games and others quiet.

Tall forwards are mercurial if they only ever kick bags of 5 or have no impact.

Stop calling exciting small forwards "mercurial” you idiots. It's an insult, not a compliment.

See also commentators needing to find other descriptive words for black players that aren't 'magic' or 'athletic'.

So, if the cats were so into Bowes for so long and want him, then gc should just pull the pick 7 off the table and cats can still get their man for a third round pick.
No?

I think the thing is that nobody will pay a contract of that size for a guy that is playing 2nds.
Pick 7 is the sweetener.

Care to comment on journeymen?

Theyre spreading cross 4-5 years so theyre not paying that kind of contract, Geelong just want the pick 7 like everyone else.

Exactly.
But would they or anyone else be offering a contract of that size if there wasn't a first rounder bundled in?

Pick 7 was the going the price for Bowes absurd leftover contract. What mind powers the cats list team have over the suns to get them to agree to that instead of just sending a second rounder is anyone guess.

This is on the suns complete incompetence.

Just a bit of a joke that the cats are the beneficiaries again.
