What do you think they'll ask for? He'd be the most sought after young KPF in the land.
2x firsts. Good ones.

3 is getting beyond what clubs can reasonably gather. And should only be for those that can really change a game, like Buddy or Cameron. Ugle-Hagan is not that.

This might be the dumbest call of 2024 and we're only 13 days in.
As a general rule, a goal is a goal, regardless of who kicks it. However, if the 40 goal player assists another 40 and the 70 goal player prevents 20 then the 40 goal player could be ahead.

i have no idea whether Larkey is unable to assist others goal and prevents scoring opportunities by demanding the ball when he can't score, obstructing a leading player or bring the ball to the ground to the advantage of an opposition defender. However that is the only way I can think that his 70- goals would be less valuable than, say Ugle-Hagan's 40.

OK so assuming Reeves Nash Worpel Newcombe still take the majority of centre square bounces. Who’s the next players in who start outside the square? What are the options?
Basically the mobile HF and HB and wing players and a couple of bench spots
I’m coining it this way cos I percieve the game plan to be about superior run and spread. More than just the two wing positions

I’m thinking Sicily Weddle CJ Mitchell Impey Masso Amon Maginness bmac off the back
And Moore Butler Bruest Ginnivan Watson McKenzie Husthwaite C MacDonald Ward Morrison off the front

That’s 18 players into 9 positions plus 2 on the bench. You’d think Day and Wingard would slot back in when fit. I’m still thinking of Stephens as a centre square player mainly

The Luke Jackson trade probably sets a good precedent. 13, 6 and 24 odd then change coming back the other way. Was probably expected to be another 13 or so as well.

It’s probably not unreasonable to think that 2024 1st and 2nd, 2025 1st would get it done.

Far stupider calling it the dumbest call 13 days in. We'll see, reckon his output will come back down considerably this season.

As it sits, Larkey is a good player but while being one of the most targeted forwards in the league he's not a great mark, doesn’t set up his team mates overly well and doesn’t do much else around the ground. Gunston has never kicked >60 goals in his career but I would take any of his seasons >40 goals over Larkey's 70 odd last season.

Geez he would want to be some kind of player for that price.

I'm talking Jeremey Cameron good.

Awful big risk involved in giving up that kind of draft capital for a player like JUH.

Yep that ‘6’ was a lot lower than expected. An offer of our first and future first alone would be far greater than the freo offer for Jackson given where we are on the ladder currently. Might be different if we rise up the ladder this year.

Buddy’s 102 goals in H&A the best for 25 years. Nearest being 94 96 by matty Lloyd before and Kennedy 86 and fevola 89
Actually the nearest ANYONE has gotten to 100 goals since Buddy in 2008 was Fevola with 99 goals in the same year. Still makes me laugh when Clarko interacted Roughie and others to flood the backline 😂

It wasn’t mean spirited as Clarko was accused of. He didn’t appreciate the risks when crowds invaded given a final the next week and was determined not to have another in the same game. I f fev worked as hard for a season ias in that 15 minute he’d probably have had 129 goals

It may be earlier than expected, but maybe Weddle steps into the Day void?
We could experiment with it, but with:

Nash
Newcombe
Worpel
Ward
Maginness
McKenzie
C. McDonald

That’s 7 already. No clear need to “fill a void” as such.

So if they prefer Weddle to play defence again, or perhaps on a wing, there’s plenty of other players who can play in there.
