Players from other sides are duds, hawthorn players are champions.
This is the way. … goes for other club supporters.
JUH is no dud, don't get me wrong.

But he's not a KPF. He's more a taller version of Bailey Frish.

We already have one of the absolute best KPFs in the comp in Lewis, we just need to keep him healthy.

Anyway as other posters have already said the Doggies will want heaven and earth for him and I can't see how we ever do that kind of deal given we are still rebuilding and need to retain our draft picks.

You offer me a choice between JUH and Lewis I am taking Lewis hands down.

Mitch Lewis is a true KPF, I don't think JUH will ever have the size to play this role.

The only thing JUH has in his favour is he is three years younger and doesn't have Lewis's history with injuries.

Put it this way if you had to choose between the two Round 1 as our full forward next year to play for your life who you got?

To play one game in round 1 2024 to save my life?
What about from round 1 2024 until Grand Final day 2034?
It's not really a fair question.

Regardless, I was merely pointing out that saying Mitch Lewis is TWICE the player of Ugle-Hagen is absurd.

But also, as somebody else stated, why not both?

Sure for a fair price I'd have him any day of the week.

But to pry him out of the Doggies will cost an arm and a leg in draft picks and $$$$

And I'd only do that deal for a legit Key Forward which as I've already said is not what JUH is in my opinion.

What about making a play for Busslinger? Right age demographic to partner long term with blanck and McCabe, OOC this year and dogs have a lot of tall timber albeit Jones and Keath are old but worth a crack?
Is he out of contract? He was a first round pick in the 2022 draft.

I have my reservations in juh becoming a power frwd. İf Blanck and dgb don't come on like we want/need then our number one priority should be a kpd.
We need to focus on both.
We more than have the money. Let’s do it. At last count some $2.8m to $3.2m in cap space.

We need forward and backline KP structure and depth and quality to really challenge.

But I still reckon it will take an offer above market.
As it does for every player acquisition when they're not moving states.

I can't understand posters getting hung up on the $1m a season part. I'm sure if it was $950k then optically its just different and less pushback.

But we're in different times, $1m just not going to be the huge sum it once was. Wait til people realise Ben McKay is earning.

Yep, supply and demand mean KPP get overs.

wonder who the poor bloke on under 60k is lol
Is there a rookie listed player who has effectively retired but had a contract? Seems so strange that an AFL player at any stage of their career could be pulling in under 60k

He's 21 years old and came from the Covid crop of 2020.

We like to overrate our own, but suggesting Mitch Lewis is twice the player of Ugle-Hagen is nothing but a supporter bias statement.

I would take JUH over Bailey Smith every day of the week just on our list requirements and growth he could become as a player!
With some more strength he could become anything.

Out of interest, which young key forwards do you think we should target? The problem in my view is there really aren’t many proven young star forwards, let alone ones that are potentially gettable.

Yeah JUH has that X factor look about him with some attitude/confidence ……. hope our young mids shine this year and that JUH likes playing chess!

If our young group develop as we hope and expect, they will be entitled to substantial salary increases over future years. We don't want to find ourselves in the position of some clubs who have had to unload valuable players to stay within the cap.
