I was probably comparing the quality of the overall draft as opposed to Stocker individually. Pick 19 in what was hyped up to be an all time great draft is perhaps better than a low top 10 pick in a standard draft. I could be wrong but I've read that this maybe even below the average, but who knows really.

So it more or less came down to is pick 19 in a super strong draft and ~pick 8 worth trading for ~pick 4 in the weaker draft?
Pick 19 in a super strong draft is probably worth pick 10 in this years draft, Stocker is not worth a top 10 pick in this years draft.

Was Stocker the 4th midfielder taken in last years draft? Lot of key position players taken last year. Wonder what the number of midfielders normally taken in the top 20 of a draft is? Someone smart, go!

To the club, this trade was never pick 19 and a swap of firsts. It was only ever Liam Stocker for a swap of firsts. The trade only happened because Stocker was available. Any discussions trying to use the value of picks to see who won are just wrong. If I remember correctly we tried the same trade with another club with an earlier pick (port?).

Walsh, Smith, Jones, Caldwell, Butters, Hately, Duursma... Stocker
One could also argue that Thomas andm maybe Rozee are long term midfielders.

Guys - I’m not trying to be clever or anything this is a legit question. I’d like to know what both the yes and no reasoning is. I like the kid but am by no means a juniours watcher

He did win the Morish Medal and was one of the top performing TAC cup players, that is one reason why he could be top 10.

If he hadn't broken his jaw, would have made the championships and more than held his own.

While he wasn't an accumulator like Walsh(not many are) or had the impact of a Caldwell/Smith and or the xfactor of a Rozee/Rakine, none of the kids this year are of that quality either.

Stock reminds me of a mix of Andy/Angus Brayshaw, can win the ball but is better by foot on both sides

Thanks heaps Arr0w really appreciate it mate.

Those who don't rate Stocker are those who likely only saw him at AFL level where to the unknowing he was a kid learning the caper in his limited opportunity. However, even then he did a number of thingsthat often escape the stat sheet that say "Yeah, this kid has 200+ in him if he gets a good run at it."

I've never seen as many opposition fans so quickly call one of our players a gun before unless its a Blind Freddy situation (e.g. Walsh).
