If i was the GC list manager i'd be taking 1 + 2 to the draft this year and try and bring in mature players another way and if Adelaide give them a phone call tell them to eff off.

Probably how it plays out.

Definitely think there's some merit in GC trading at least one of those picks for some genuine AFL-grade leaders. Trick is finding one or more who are a) good enough, and b) want to play up there. Those sorts of players have options, and I'm not sure GC have much to offer to get themselves in the frame.

The suns have everything the cows want. Lukosious, rankine, picks 1 and possibly 2 and the cows have nothing the suns want (maybe sloan). Silly Cows.
Yep, you said it, Crows have got nothing and going nowhere. :thumbsu:

If the crows end up with pick 4/5 and we end up with pic 9/10 + pick 19 it is a win for both clubs.

Crows get there earliest pick in a long long time, we stay in the top 10 plus Stocker

Pretty close to the mark I think, despite what most people thought/think.

still waiting on Login to tell us the 10 players better then stocker in this years draft...

I am not by any means a recruiter or massive draft watcher but I saw the champs games and keep reasonably up to date.

Rowell, Anderson and Green seem the standouts (Crows won’t get any of them :D ), Kemp also rates extremely high but has now done a knee so could slip to us?? Ash, Serong, Flanders and Young seem really promising.

In this year’s draft I don’t think Stocker would look out of place around 8-15, but I’m no expert. I remember Oliver, also a Morrish Medal winner, was rated a teens pick before he shot up the order with a brilliant champs. It’s a shame Liam never got that opportunity.

I don’t care where he was picked. I just know we have an extremely talented kid on our list who WILL be a damn fine footballer.

A lot of football....let's call them personalities...struggle with these hypotheticals.

GC have pick 1.
Adelaide have Pick 3.
GC will get a priority pick, so they'll have 1 and 2.
They should trade them to Adelaide for some players.
Then Adelaide will have Picks 1, 2 and 3.
.....completely oblivious to the fact that the priority pick pushes the others back.

When listening to these people discuss possible trade scenarios, don't sweat the details. They certainly don't. At a base level, it's an interesting conversation as to whether Adelaide would/should part with some established players to bring in more youth (ie. start a rebuild) and whether GC should prioritise mature players over high value draftees to try and generate some on-field improvement.

Except as it stands GC have 1, Cows have 3.
GC get a pp at 1, they'd have 1 and 2. Cows have 4...
Though maths works different-like down there in the Mullet State.

I hoped we went for him and would be more than happy to have him on our list, Crows should have blooded him...he’s a similar player to Stocker...a reason where they are with their list.
I think he is a goodie, but for us? No. Too many off that type on our list, he should have been a direct replacement for then on McG so I don’t get why he isn’t getting a game.

I think Sydney and the dogs should go hard for him

What happened to fogarty? I remember some people on here crapped their pants when we took O'Brien instead of him.

Unfortunately for him the one player that's taking his spot is Tex Walker.

Will be interesting to see how that plays out because you can't have both in the same side. Maybe he'll look for opportunities elsewhere.

Must be junk then. If Tex the chicken heart is taking your spot. I’d take even our boy Kerr over “Tex”.

I keep coming back to this list with horror and some astonishment - not sure even at our worst periods of nepotism our list was as bad as this - asleep at the wheel much, crows?

With horror and astonishment?

Good luck making any significant change with that great bunch of matey matey blokes

I look at the list and just go

On the AFL’s road to the draft podcast, all the recruiting managers so far when asked, sounded pretty unexcited by this year’s crop after the first couple of picks, and they knew (and we knew) this for a couple of years now. But Crows thought shit, Blues are shit we’ll get pick 1!!

Last year’s pool on the other hand was one out of the box.

So yeah I agree and if we had Stocker 6th last year, he’d likely be even higher on our list this year.

Don’t think Oliver played champs.

Speaking about that death riding thread, i think it's dead, Grotto and Mr Google LEATHEL70 who were leading the charge haven't been seen for yonks, sad isn't it. :p :)

Sure they have been lurking, but what could they possibly say now?

We just spanked them, contributed to them losing 4 of their last 5 since the bye, been ranked 18th for players 23 and under( don't think it's that bad actually), many of their senior players are underperforming/done, rumours of players wanting out, want the off field staff gone, probably won't make finals and their dream of getting a top 2 pick all but gone

Did I miss anything?

Edited: Many others have also moved on, yet some are still trying to convince people they will win this trade

Sometimes I think SOS had inside information from Mitch McGovern about the incoming implosion between Pyke and The Players, which is why he had the chutzpah to do arguably the boldest trade in AFL circles since Trent Croad to Freo for pick one in 2001.
