I'm going to guess:

StK - R Young, E Phillips, M Parker, R Marshall, J Battle, B Long, J Marsh, C Wilkie
Carl - S Walsh, L Stocker, M Gibbons, H McKay, D Cunningham

8 v 5

Pretty much spot on, except today was McKay's 25th game. Experience can't be used as an excuse for today.

I just get the sense that the Saints match was the tipping point for him. After two dire performances in the previous three rounds they just had to win against an injury-depleted modest opponent. He doesn't have the credits anymore to get away with a 1-9 start.

Unless the Blues win 5-6 matches for the rest of the year can't see Bolton surviving.

Dude hasn’t won 5 of the last 41. 5 of 6 is a stretch.

He’s just one of those guys...one of those coaches who is obviously too intense and struggles to communicate with the players in a meaningful way. His voice is annoying..his head is annoying to look at...he’s a very short little guy and everyone is looking down at him listening to his chipmunk voice and switching off.
The players aren’t going to say it but it’s quite apparent they have no faith or belief in anything he’s crapping on about in meetings and at training.

We have the same sort of problem at our club but in a different way..a different personality.

Blues have no choice but to give him the flick. It’s a frustrating pain in the arse to start again with a new coach but better to get it over with asap and move on.

Norf pulled the pin. More will surely follow.

Personally, I’d be happy if he was allowed to coach the Blues again next season!

I think you might be right. But no one really knows how the players feel. They may love him... though i wouldn't chose him as coach.

There's about 4 top 5 picks on that list.....isn't it the coaches responsibility (along with assistant coaches) to have the young players develop to reach their potential?
Yes, and the responsibility is equally shared by the player. They have to want to be their best. I just don't see enough of them that want it.

I look at a guy like Petrevski-Seton and see a gifted footballer who has developed habits that will cost him a great career. Does not work hard and is conditional in his efforts.

Hides behind carefully curated slogans and buzzwords, but doesn’t really have anything interesting to say overall. I’ve never once been astounded by anything he’s said WRT football, and I suspect the little Journey doco was doctored to the absolute extreme. The Coach Carter vibes were amusing though.

Every team has players like that...it's that some teams give games to players like that whereas the best most consistent teams would not give a player a game no matter where drafted if they aren't putting in effort

Is it SOS or Bolton the problem???????
If Bolton is a problem, he's not the only one.
Four coaches, two of them premiership coaches, and countless talented players have been ruined at Carlton. In hindsight, Ratten almost looks like a genius for getting a few decent years. There is no reason a club with the resources available to Carlton should have been average in their best years (better than that in one year) over such a long time.

I'd almost be looking at turning over the whole football department other than the coaching panel, and seeing what happens next year. But maybe Bolton as well.

The thing is, while there have been some nasty blowouts, Carlton have also stayed competitive for most of the game in a fair few matches as well.
Round 1 v Richmond. Blown away early as expected, made ground to be two goals behind at 3/4 time, before losing by 33 points.
edit: Round 2 v Port Adelaide, away. Lost by two goals. While Port aren't a great side, they aren't looking at bottom four either.
Round 3 v Sydney. Lost by three goals, though Sydney seem to be on the slide so not as honourable as it looked.
Round 4 v Gold Coast. Narrow away loss in the game expected in pre-season top be the year's biggest cripple fight.
Round 5 v Bulldogs. Solid win, yeah the Dogs aren't much chop either, but a win is a win.
Round 6 v Hawthron. Stayed in it until the end, against a side expected to be better than Carlton.
Round 7 v North. First true disaster of the year. Belted by the team that, two weeks before, had put in the worst game of any side in the AFL era (yes, that inlcudes Melbourne 186 and Fitzroy's final year).
Round 8 v Colliongwood. Three goal loss to one of the premiership favourites isn't a bad effort for a lower team.
Round 9 v GWS. Smacked in abysmal, but largely anticipated, fashion.
Round 10 v St Kilda. Two goal loss, not terrible though St Kilda aren't flying as high as they were earlier in the year.

There's not a lot of good in there, a lot of poor, but not as much truly terrible as might be expected for a side at 1-9. And most of the time on a game by game basis, probably better than one would have thought at the start of the year.
Has the coach actually been that bad? After a few years one would hope for better results than that, but I do wonder how much say Bolton has over list management.

We played PORT IN RD 2

what about all the other coaches who've gone through and struggled?

you'd be hard pressed convincing someone born later than 1990 that Carlton were once arguably the greatest club in the land. none of the players there would've have seen the great Carlton of old and would probably walk into the joint wondering where all those premiership trophies came from. the joint stinks royally and there is no aura about it anymore. deadset, young players are defeated as soon as they're drafted to the place.

something more than just another coach needs to change down there.

Seriously, I think the coach can only do so much.

At the end of the day, he needs help from players who are disciplined, confident, leaders, and most importantly, winners. Players aren't necessarily going to be inspired by their coaches. They're more likely to get behind one of their own. These inspirational, never say die, playing to the end guys are unique. They don't come around often. And you really don't know you've got one until your team is a champion.

Teams that come to mind for me are Melbourne Storm, and New England Patriots. Everyone goes on about Craig Bellamy & Bill Belichek as super coaches in their respective sports, but both of them have had the most influential players in those sports parallel their coaching career. Specifically, Cameron Smith, Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk for Melbourne, and Tom Brady for New England. The turnover in these teams since those players have been at their respective clubs -15 to 20 years - has been ten-fold, yet they keep winning. Average players become exceptional. On the flipside, good players become awful when they leave.

But these guys are an anomoly. If a club finds one, they're on their way to riches for a long time.

If Blues head into the bye without another win, expect he'll be gone.

Carlton have a few winnable games coming up, can't see him coaching out the season if Blues head into the bye with only 1 win

its a ****en joke. we have a PE teacher from tasmania running arguably one of the biggest clubs in the country. haha we are a ****ing disgrace.

these blokes all look like geniuses when they are working under the best coach of Aussie rules ever to live. Clarkson is a ****ing genius, the rest of them look amazing working under him. **** me we need a big change down at the blues. its not the club i have been associated with. its a disgrace. accepting this shit, making ****ed up excuses about having kids.

Fancy telling the players "hey, you guys are young, just rock up every week we don't expect you to win" what a ****ing joke
