If we play McGregor (which I think we will), we lose far too much mobility. We are already hurting without a lead-up CHF as it is; to replace a mobile forward like Burton with a lumbering type like K-Mac would be a terrible choice imo.

I know Gill hasn't been in the best of form lately but he's a natural athlete and frankly I'd back him to perform for us every week. He MUST play against the Tigers!!

If someone has not earnt their spot in the SANFL then the probably shouldn't play. Something reinforced by the premature inclusion of Sellar in Round 7. Also, I think the thread on our forwardline covers this topic, I wont bother posting my other thoughts on the matter here here as they're in the other thread, was this one really necessary?
McGregor as a defender and Stevens up forward could work though.

Or bring McGregor in as a back and move Stevens to CHF.

Or move Tippett to CHF.

Or bring Hentschel in at CHF.

Stevens, Tippet and Hentschel are not CHF.

Gill is the obvious choice.

Yes, and this too.

Gill should come in regardless of what happens to Burton

One of the reasons we made the finals last year was because of Nick Gill being in the side.

Good to see Nick Gill absolutely off his face wandering down north terrace at 4am in the morning last night.

Probally not the best way to force his way into the side.

I think Gill is the obviousCHF in our team. If I was Nick Gill though, Id certainly want to make sure I was 100% fit and ready to be playing AFL... One or two poor showings could be curtains on his career. Id like to see him play a good SANFL league game or two first... I think Jericho:eek: is the bloke Id give a chance to if Burton is out

Agree. Screw form, get him in there.

That might have been his twin brother, Fish.

No way in hell Frederick, NO WAY IN HELL!!! Young VVM is right, Gill's inclusion in the side last year was a much bigger factor in our rally toward the finals than most will acknowledge. Put Gill in the side and imo our structure will improve massively.

Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if they went with Jericho or McGregor.

I think if Burton is suspended then we should bring in Otten for his first game. Otten is very versatile and can play as a small or a tall. He is very capable of playing acrosss half forward and being a lead up forward. Against Norwood he took 13 marks and kicked 4 goals in which 4 or 5 of those marks were contested. Personally i think the crows will be conservative and pick McGregor but i really hope they go with Otten. Even Dangerfield i would consider as he no game on this week as well and he go do a job accross half forward.

I'm a fan of Gill but I don't think his fitness is up to it at this stage. He is struggling at SANFL level due to his fitness levels not so much touch. I just don't think he is ready yet.

Neglect form at your peril .......Gill has none and a suspect body

Mcgregor probably gets the nod

On the money WW. :thumbsu:

McGregor gave Gill a caning in their recent match up. Gill has no form behind him at all.

Kenny appears to be the logical one if Burton does get done. He will have a crack.

Jericho's some chance, as he's more mobile but unfortunately thinks a con test is 2 words and a form of sneaky exams. :)

Later this year, Gill for sure.... And maybe one day it would be lovely to have Sellar demand a game... I love what Nick offers the club and for us to be a chance of giving this year a shake Gill has to be in the 22, no doubt. But he has no form at all and is odds on to pull a muscle. He needs match fitness and form. One or two bad games and you are delisted from the Crows fans on this forum so surely even Nick would want to be at his best when he comes back. As for calling in Otten, Id be very happy, but if Burton is out we need another forward to replace him... Maybe Hentschell! But Jericho IMO will get the nod after his last quarter heroics versus powerhouse Melbourne.. Surely the selectors owe him that...

McGregor's form has been down back i believe? Plays nothing like Burton in terms of style. No way we can carry the 3 rucks and McGregor...way too immobile.

Jericho should be a shoe in given Gill and Hentschel are not ready.

Kenny and Kurt in the same forward line though?

Yep. My thoughts there would be for Kenny to stand in the square and take the long bombs.

Tippett has been playing this role lately much to his own detriment. I'd like to see him mix and match his game with more leads

Let Kenny do the hack work with Tippett to move around a lot.

Just to clarify my earlier post - I've got a lot of time for Gill, and with form and fitness behind him, he'd be my choice to come in, but at the moment, he has neither.

We need to try something a little different; Tippett has the engine to play CHF, and would be a bloody good experiment, especially if it came off.

Stevens might not be a traditional CHF, but he can play the lead up/mobile role reasonably well.

How's Walker been going lately? Tipp to CHF/Texas to FF? ;)

Sellar is the other obvious one, but if he comes in, it's really to give him another taste.

That was Trent Hentschel who gave Nick Gill a good touch up 2 weeks ago.

Kenny McGregor was also very good that day but played on Clint Alleway at CHB where as Trent played on the mobile leading Gill at FB.
