Hartungs player ratings from 2017. Bit up and down, but there's some decent performances amongst it and he looked like he was a bit more consistent towards the end of the year. Still not sold though, does he have any upside or is this his level? If it is, i wouldn't bother.

Seems to me that we have delisted a lot of players - a couple of which surprised me - and now have a fair few list spots to fill.

It doesn't make sense to me for us to fill those list spots with draftees this year, ie using 5th and 6th round picks, when we are clearly planning to fill our boots next year.

Therefore I'm open to drafting a few DFA's on 1 year contracts to tide us over. And if we're doing so then for me the FazRaz principle applies - I want blokes who are mature enough to accept their lot in life, are at least hard at it (even if limited), can cop with playing a lot of VFL and be a bit of a mentor to the kids there, are prepared to run both ways and can come in and play a role if our depth is tested through injuries.

So yeah, basically 2016 FazRaz, who I thought came to the club with little respect and left with a lot.

Unless they have a remarkable career renaissance in 2018, they'd be sacrificed at the alter of the 2019 draft. But in the meantime a player or two like that could be more valuable than a long shot kid taken deep in the draft IMO.

The Faz-raz of this year is Wellingham imo. I've always liked him and still think he has a fair bit to give, but if we were going down that route why didnt we just keep Mullett??

Wouldn't mind Wellingham. He fits the FazRaz bill - even has the silly name.

Yeah, agree on Mullett. I would have kept him. Worst case scenario he'd look good in the royal blue and white at Arden Street (still haven't got used to how awesome it is that we have a North Melbourne team playing at Arden Street again!). But here we are, I guess.

Finally....LT. God I hope the Port rumours are shit. I hope he says get stuffed, I have a year left on my contract and I'm gonna goddamn prove to you all that at the end of that contract you're gonna offer me another 3 years on account of how damn good I was in 2018. I hope he tells the club he's not going to Port just like how the club told the AFL it wasn't going to the Gold Coast, and then does a North and delivers on that in 2018.
