AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Taylor broke his thumb round eightish.I haven't paid any attention to Taylor tbh but I really liked what I saw on Sunday. If his efforts have been similar to that I am extremely disappointed that Nicks has not exposed him to senior football. Same with Pedlar.
Yeah, that isn't happening!I reckon a double whammy Rankine and Hollands for pick 5 would be the greatest trade of all time
You can bet on it.
Working title: "I Me Mine"
(other suggested titles welcome)
we can only dreamYeah, that isn't happening!
He was quite impressive in the final for sure. There's much speculation that he'll be delisted this year but I think that would be a mistake. The guy has never had 1 AFL pre season. They at least need to give another go next year to see what he can do.Selection is going to be interesting early next year. There are a few guys who you would think will be out of the team to make way for Pedlar, Taylor, Rankine and possibly Hamill
It will be interesting to see if Turner remains on the list - looked really good in the final and another who could over take McHenry Murphy etc

They will retain turner - its the main spots that are short - they can afford a rookie spot for turnerHe was quite impressive in the final for sure. North: sheezel
West coast: wardlaw
GWS: maybe busslinger
Essendon: tsatas
We do, his name is Roo.It’s strange that the crows don’t have one person in the media, one that will stand up and give his opinion on this issue. Port have corned the crown and Victoria have their people too.
Due to the fact that roo is a director, it’s a conflict of interest for him to say to much I guess. We need an extra player to start giving it back because we are always in the firing line.
For F##k sake this camp has been brought up almost every year since we had it. Yet Essendon organised a doping Regime and couldn’t even tell ASADA what they gave them and that’s not been brought up since. Now they are even considering bring back Hird
I loved Roo when he was a player, there was no better, maybe McLeod. As a commentator, he is so crap and same as media personality. He tries so hard to not look like barracking, that he actually almost barracks for the other team.We do, his name is Roo.
Thats why when he said we could get Pick 2 for Brouch compo, the AFL world lost their minds lol.
I miss Kerls doing the boundary riding.I loved Roo when he was a player, there was no better, maybe McLeod. As a commentator, he is so crap and same as media personality. He tries so hard to not look like barracking, that he actually almost barracks for the other team.
Look at Kane, he’s an idiot with big opinions but his heart bleeds port and he’s not ashamed to show it. Roo needs to do the same, every time we play he should be bias towards us and talk us up. Not do what he’s doing now.
Come on Roo, give it back like you did on the field
It was easy to forget what it was like back in the day. They’d have two boundary riders. One going for each team.I miss Kerls doing the boundary riding.
Lot of people still talking about giving up pick 5 for Rankine.
Using the whole Dawson thing as a template, I highly doubt that we'll use 5 and if we do, we'd expect 7 back.
I also don't think we'll hold back on PSD if we have to either.
This is how the Dawson thing played out IIRC
Trade period opens.
We have organised with a club (cant remember who) to get sydney a pick like 12 or 13 or something like that. The club we're dealing with has given us a timeline.
Sydney t want our first rounder which we bluntly tell them they won't get, so they crack the sooks and refuse to accept.
Timeline runs out, other club uses their pick in another trade. We do a deal with Melb to get a first rounder but later than the original one. We tell Sydney take that or get f all, see if we care.
Trade period gets towards end.
Sydney take Melbs pick.
Seems like everyone has forgotten this.
The PSD is not something that worries the recieving club. No club will sign a player that doesn't want to play for them. The decks are heavily stacked against the losing club. Everyone should know this, we've be subject to it many times. We complained and asked for it to be fixed. Crickets.
The best way we can get it fixed is to get Dawson like we did and then get Rankine like we will. Media is already complaining about us, but really its the system that needs to be fixed.
We’re certainly due a few back the other way.Lot of people still talking about giving up pick 5 for Rankine.

If you ask Kane McGoodwin he isn't even worth 1 first rounder........I love your optimism, but I can't see any scenario where we don't use Pick 5.
I think we're kidding ourselves if we think the PSD will be a realistic option.
As for trading Pick 5 and getting Pick 7 back. the only way I can see us getting 7 back would be if we traded Pick 5 and our 2023 first rounder for Rankine and Pick 7, which may be an option if we're keen on Phillipou and think he'll still be there at that pick.
Honestly I think you're massively underrating Rankine's asking price. I have said before that he's worth between Pick 5-10 and the reality is that Pick 5 is really the only trade collateral that we have.
The funny thing is Port fans complain that Roo is biased as all hell, so I'd hate to see how they'd react if he actually was.I loved Roo when he was a player, there was no better, maybe McLeod. As a commentator, he is so crap and same as media personality. He tries so hard to not look like barracking, that he actually almost barracks for the other team.

We offer our 2023/1, and that's the best deal we give.I love your optimism, but I can't see any scenario where we don't use Pick 5.

I do think we will get a good deal done. Reid has learnt a few hard lessons and recent trading has suggested that he is a harder case to deal with nowadays.I think you missed my point. There essentially is no such thing as an asking price.
There's only two prices in play.
The what we're offering price and the what we can get away with (that the AFL will (however begrudgingly) rubber stamp) price.
Given how we've been shafted previously and have it in writing from them why they approved our shaftings (what we recieved was fair according to them), we've got some pretty wide room.
The what we're offering price, which will be say 12-17ish i'd say, will be the first one GC recieve. If they're wise, they take it with a minimum of fuss. If they dont they risk receiving a price somewhere between the first offer and the what we can get away with price. Same as what happened with Dawson.
We offer our 2023/1, and that's the best deal we give.
1min to deadline, what do GC do? Take it or leave it.
They complain, and then agree.
