Adelaide 5 & Future 2nd for Rankine, Cox, 33

Gold Coast Rankine & 33 for 12 & Adel Future 2nd

Fremantle 12, Future 1st & Cox for Jackson

Melbourne Jackson for 5 & Freo Future 1st

EDIT: I did this complex trade at quarter time of the Freo/Bulldogs match, thinking Freo would lose. That’ll teach me…
That's a pretty massive overpay for Jackson, who's fallen off a cliff recently.

A couple of good picks will be enough for him, Freo don't need to also give up Cox.

I still think our future 1st is about right for Taranto, and 12 and 19 would be a good trade for our future first, and 12 is a good trade for Rankine ...
I like it. Maybe depending on who we like in the draft it could be 19 and 5 for Rankine and 7.
This gets GC up into the Tsatis, Wardlow, Scheezel discussion and we would have 7 and 12. This gives us the pick before Port and we could target say Phillipou and Hollands, addressing our midfield future.

Logic agrees.
It was mentioned that those close to him said he's gettable.
Can't see Freo letting him go but if a player wants to walk its pretty hard to stop them.

18 months ago you wouldn't think Dawson and Rankine were gettable.
They were gettable when they came out of contract. Cox might be gettable then, too, but I doubt he is now. Certainly not at a price we'd want to pay.

Dawson (poor bastard) and Rankine OOC, Cox contracted to end of 2024 season - BIG difference

Last interview and a recent interview I read from Cox was he loves it at Freo and is staying. I know we are such an attractive club to join right now but I don't know how Cox ever came into discussion here, other than he's from SA. Waste of keystrokes talking about it!

Exactly what Dawson and Rankine said.
What else do you expect a player to say especially during finals campaign.
I answered the question where the talk came from but you obviously have trouble reading.

An interesting trade partner to facilitate the Rankine move may end up being Richmond this year (currently hold 12, 19 and next years 1st). See if they are willing to overpay to jump up into the top 5 for one of the really good Vicco kids.

They have an surprisingly unbalanced list IMO, wildly top heavy due to the "Dynasty players" (which admittedly is a nice problem to have). But going through it they have Riewoldt 34 in Oct, Cotchin 33 next year, Dusty almost 31 and potentially on the move, Grimes 31, Tarrant 34, McIntosh, Lynch, Prestia, Nankervis, Broad, Pickett, Vlaustin all circling or above 30. Caddy, Lambert and Edwards all officially retired, joining Astbury and Houli from last year.

Thats a big chunk of their premiership teams (not including Tarrant) at the tail end of their careers.

Might not be a bad team to dangle some wacky trade scenario's too. Maybe even float Matt Crouch's name into discussions. A 27 year old former AA inside mid might be of actual use to them with that many retirements about to hit their list.
12 and their first next year will be needed for Taranto.

they will back in their system with the picks they have

I think we should draft with pick 5. we dont have that many top 5s on the list. actually exactly 1 (RT).

there are other ways to get rankine

I just go back to the GC v ADE game from earlier this yr which I had a good look at.
We played 4 small forward/mid types in that game and his output alone pretty much bested 3 of them.
The good thing about Rankine is he's another small forward.

And if we play, like all 10 of the small forwards on our list, then that means by defnition that 60% of the ground is now our forward line.

Raining goals!

The thing that a lot of people don't understand is the AFL is basically professional wrestling, it's sports entertainment.

Rankine will get to us and we don't have to give GC anything, legally. We will though, to keep up the facade.

The opposition supporters thinking they are a chance for Rankine in the preseason are basically the same people who think wrestling is real.
