News Jackson Hately requests trade to Adelaide

Watched him this year as he was in my fantasy team for 4 rounds.

Didn’t really have a position, rotating forward and wing, got 0 inside mid time. He has the frame to play inside mid, so I’d like to see him there.

Has good work ethic. Decision making was really poor and struggled to have an impact in the second half of games this year, also looked low on confidence. Needs continuity
so like the GWS version of Chayce Jones?

Pretty excited by a potential midfield next year led by ROB, Matt and Laird as the senior bodies (Sloane to play more of an outside role with small bursts inside), supporting the next gen including Hately, Hollands (hopefully), Jones, McHenry and maybe a couple of other high picks/Gollant/O’Connor. I’ve probably missed someone, but in any case that midfield is looking way more dynamic for the future.

Schoenberg.

Sholl on a wing too.

Interesting Bickley mentioned there's another player out there who we are after that we could use the PSD threat for.
Sounds like it..if parfitt we just have to give GWS a decent pick (dogs 2nd) to keep it nice and clean with them as they are a good club. Use the PSD for Parfitt to stick it up Geelong as we owe them over a few trades.

Knew I had missed someone! Left Sholl out as my focus was more on the guys who will be rotating through the centre bounces and around the ground stoppages. Hamill and Sholl developing alongside the likes of Sloane and Smith on the outside is just as exciting.

Each club looks at each trade on a transaction by transaction basis

Given the regular turn-over of club officials, being nice in a Hately trade now does not necessarily mean we get a return in good-will for future GWS trades

Pick 29 or PSD

I would keep pick 20 and 21 if we get for Atkins for our own draft investment

The club has been very clear about investing in the draft

Do we think GWS would have an interest in taking Seedsman at all? A good metres gained and genuine goal kicking winter that fits their current list position.

We could potentially look to include him on this deal somewhere, but I highly doubt GWS will be looking at any deal that doesn’t include pick 29 at a minimum.

Just think the giants should be one club we look to get some currency for Seed from.

Pretty sure Jones got full games in midfield, easy to forget as they yielded about 6 very ordinary possessions.
I didn’t realise clean centre clearances or hitting the scoreboard were deemed very ordinary possessions. He did get a good run in there during the first half of the season as a taste and hopefully understands where he can improve for 2021. Still don’t get the level of criticism directed towards a 2nd year mid in a team that finished last, his form will rise as the team does.

I don’t think we should go the PSD route, but all this ‘burning good will’ by being firm is bullshit.

We have for the most part been pushovers at the trade table, and it has come back to haunt us as clubs know they can screw us. You think because we accepted unders for Keath and Greenwood, we are going to get favourable trades from these teams? Still waiting for Geelong to pay us back for the Danger trade if that was the case.
It could be this year for B.Crouch.....

I've been thinking this for a while. Pending this goes through (which should be a formality) it gives us 3 x 1st rounders from the Superdraft (fingers crossed Jones and McHenry come on in 2021).

And I certainly won't say its a lock that we get Luko or Rankine, but I would be flabbergasted if it wasn't our intention to make a serious play for at least one of them when they come out of contract in 2021 (especially with the money from Tex, Gibbs Payout and Lynch coming off the books)

If we somehow manage to run out week 1 of 2022 with 4 players from the 1st round of the Superdraft, as well as Hamill, and Rising Star Nominee Sholl, I would be a VERY happy camper!

Anyway, pipedream over. You can all go about your business again
Seems like they're both contracted til end of 2022. 2023 at the earliest.. =\

Not writing off Jones, just don't think can be said he's had no centre time.
He's been very ordinary for the position he was taken in that draft so far, doesn't mean he'll be a bust.

Nicks needs to free him uo to attack and take the game on

good. because next year we need to use our picks at the draft and try to gain extra picks if possible

(I wonder on draft night 2 - we have the first pick and it will be valuable - could we trade that for a future 1st from a contending team if they want a player that might have slipped this year outside round 1)

This is the first time a player of this calibre at such a young age has requested a trade to Adelaide. A big day and direct result of the clean out. We should all be proud of our club today.

Troy Menzel was the last one

Yes he turned out to be shit but he was a 3rd year highly rated first-round pick forward at the time

We've also had various other juniors come back over the year. Such as Tom Lynch on the good side, and Lewis Johnston on the shit side
