in a lot of ways picking up Hately now covers off the jones pick from 2018. Meaning that if Hately comes good with us and becomes a very good player then if jones is a bust (not saying he is) then we are still at least not down from that so called super draft year. We could have easily picked up Hately instead of Jones at the time so now it is like a 2 for 1 as we won't be paying anything like what it would have cost back then for both of them
I've been thinking this for a while. Pending this goes through (which should be a formality) it gives us 3 x 1st rounders from the Superdraft (fingers crossed Jones and McHenry come on in 2021).

And I certainly won't say its a lock that we get Luko or Rankine, but I would be flabbergasted if it wasn't our intention to make a serious play for at least one of them when they come out of contract in 2021 (especially with the money from Tex, Gibbs Payout and Lynch coming off the books)

If we somehow manage to run out week 1 of 2022 with 4 players from the 1st round of the Superdraft, as well as Hamill, and Rising Star Nominee Sholl, I would be a VERY happy camper!

Anyway, pipedream over. You can all go about your business again

The only way they come out of contract will be if they refuse to sign the contract the GCS will have under their nose way, way before that happens.

Isn't there already whispers of Luko not wanting to sign on?

I wonder if that GCS contract is not the only contract currently situated under his nose!

Luko is already signed to end of 2022

Theo D saying GWS want a late 1st/early 2nd for him which would put them gunning for pick 20 or the Crouch compo if that blows out. Given we have the PSD threat and that he's uncontacted they probably have to accept unders for him though
Someone mentioned late picks

Happy to throw in 55ish along side 29 if it gets it done

Pick 20 doesn't excite me

Has he played any decent games at AFL level from memory?
Not really, but has effectively played as an outside mid when his strength is inside. Reading the quotes from his manager, our pitch to him promised more midfield minutes and a role that prioritizes his inside game. I think his confidence and form will get better in a system like ours that wants to utilize his strength, unfortunately at the Giants it’s hard to take minutes from the likes of Taranto, Green etc. Giants wanted to keep him too.

That said, maybe Parfitt us who we play PSD hardball for and trade fairly for Hately.
Apparently Parfitt has a 2 year contract in front of him now from Geelong, however hasn't signed yet. Someone posted here a few a days ago that Adelaide were chasing him and had possibly proposed a 4 years deal. Then extrapolated from that, that it could be help increase an offer that Geelong make to Crouch.

I haven't really seen it anywhere else. Make of it what you like I guess

Geelong would be crazy to get rid of him, but I think it's a bit of a juggling act with their salary cap with them moment (SURELY it must be tight). I don't see them bringing in multiple players like Crouch on $650k+ without having to give something up. I think they want to have their cake and eat it too. Parfitt is currently out of contract and is only being offered a 2 year contract, as reported by a few media outlets. He's due a contract that's fairly reasonable, so if Geelong aren't offering years and $$ then he might be ripe for the picking. He was also plucked from the SANFL so has connections here.

Parfitt has probably had enough of Chris Scott. Who wouldn't. He is angry all the time

Watched him this year as he was in my fantasy team for 4 rounds.

Didn’t really have a position, rotating forward and wing, got 0 inside mid time. He has the frame to play inside mid, so I’d like to see him there.

Has good work ethic. Decision making was really poor and struggled to have an impact in the second half of games this year, also looked low on confidence. Needs continuity
Good to see an objective analysis .....yep zero CBA's

Also in 16 min qtrs I found his TOG % very puzzling ......was getting Brayshaw type minutes

Pretty excited by a potential midfield next year led by ROB, Matt and Laird as the senior bodies (Sloane to play more of an outside role with small bursts inside), supporting the next gen including Hately, Hollands (hopefully), Jones, McHenry and maybe a couple of other high picks/Gollant/O’Connor. I’ve probably missed someone, but in any case that midfield is looking way more dynamic for the future.
