Oh for sure, that is entirely possible. Richmond just doesn't seem like the sort of club that would pay another player to play for another club. The idea of Hardwick being cool with that is weird. I could be wrong though.
I'm pretty sure we paid a fair bit of deledio's salary so that gws would give us a first rounder for him. I suspect the club and dimma are a fair bit more prideful now though so you may be right

Sam Landsberger mentioned on the Herald Sun Footy podcast that Geelong believe they have missed out on Hopper and that he will be going to Richmond with his mate Taranto.

Suspect the Cats will go hard for Tanner Bruhn now.

The club says he is, Hardwick said it's definite. The inside rumours are that he is staying.

The media is saying that there might be something. Can't remember who started it, but it was a 'I think this is logical, so I'll say it might happen". And it has grown legs from there.
Swan & Tiger fans know all the talk of Dusty moving is rubbish - but it makes good click bait so they keep pushing it. Less so now that Swans have come out twice now and denied it, and were I might add, very quick to deny it the first time as well.

It's the way for the bottom dwelling journos. Invent rumours based on some sort of logic (broadly defined) and if they are work out then you're a genius. Or pick up a rumour from someone who knows and then pass it off as inside info.

And someone like Dusty is great for this. Doesn't talk to the press, huge player and so huge interest. Make some sort of vaguely logical rumour and build yourself up as an insider breaking and big ones. Ignore the issue after nothing works out, but keep your rep because you're surrounded by slow people all on the take in the AFL media. Rinse and repeat. In the end there are clicks and you get paid to produce garbage.

It would surprise me if we got both, and personally I don't think it's the wisest move.

Our current draft hand is 12, 19, 30 and then next year's first and second, call them 14 and 32 for example for argument's sake assuming we acquired both.

I think it'd take a lot of that capital to get both across, and I'm not sure you want to sell that much draft. Richmond are also desperate for a replacement elite KPF on the list. At some point, one of those picks needs to address that list hole.

That's before you get into any contract and salary stuff, although these days our club is pretty good at managing that stuff, and I imagine they see some contracts coming off the books in the near future like Dusty and Lynch and Grimes, which might mean back ended contracts for anyone we recruit now until those guys have retired.

If Blair Hartley can pull off some miracle where we get both but somehow keep a respectable draft hand either this year or next year, maybe by throwing in a player with currency that isn't required, I'll call him a genius.
What's the possibility that we are making a show of going after Hopper simply to up his value and make Geelong have to give up more in ether salary or draft picks?

Yeah it's honestly hard to see how you can get both Taranto and Hopper without selling the farm, mortgaging the future with current and future picks.

Still good luck to The Tiges if you can snag both. It's funny cause a couple of weeks ago Sam McClure said on Footy Classifed the Tigers were in a strong position to get both Taranto and Hopper, didn't believe him.
You think GWS are in a position too demand the farm in regards to Hopper considering its a cap dump?
We'll be fair in both deals but not too the point of selling the farm.

If hopper has nominated Richmond what is he waiting for?? GWS and Richmond are both season over.

If an announcement doesn’t come soon I imagine it’s not a done decision
Nether Taranto nor Hopper have declared.

For that matter, neither have Bruhn and Hill. If Bruhn is off to Hawks, why not say so?

Players usually wait for both clubs season to be over then declare it. So why haven’t we heard such yet? Seems to be a bit of a delay from the GWS lads

Hopper will be at Richmond next year and so will Taranto.
Will = definitely happening.

Richmond are no guarantees to land both, particularly Hopper who is still under contract.

Imo, you will land Taranto, but miss on Hopper.

If Taranto leaves, GWS can afford to hang on to Hopper.
