No one is playing 1.3 million for Dusty, especially either GWS or Sydney who aren't exactly brimming with cash. Unless Dusty takes a massive paycut, knowing is paying him that much. And maybe he would be happy to take a paycut to move, in which case all bets are off.
They might take him for e.g. 800 and Richmond pays out the last 500, or whatever. Or there could be a pay cut, or a longer contract with the same money spread over a longer period. 🤷‍♀️

It’s immaterial really, if Richmond don’t think they’re getting 1.3m in value out of him and they’re bringing others in to play those roles, they might be happier to facilitate something, and if Dusty wants to leave then the same goes for his side.

And in any case to keep it about Hopper, they also have to pay them somehow, as well as find the draft picks and so on. Sending someone would reduce the amount of picks they owe, and McCartney tends to drive a hard bargain.

Oh for sure, that is entirely possible. Richmond just doesn't seem like the sort of club that would pay another player to play for another club. The idea of Hardwick being cool with that is weird. I could be wrong though.

Players don't just move clubs to go home.

Indeed, I'd say in most cases, that's only a small factor in such decisions.

Don't they? Why do they keep leaving GC then?

Yeah it's honestly hard to see how you can get both Taranto and Hopper without selling the farm, mortgaging the future with current and future picks.

Still good luck to The Tiges if you can snag both. It's funny cause a couple of weeks ago Sam McClure said on Footy Classifed the Tigers were in a strong position to get both Taranto and Hopper, didn't believe him.
Sam McClure wouldn't know his arse from his face
We all know where he gets his stories from

It's immaterial because DUSTIN MARTIN is staying at Richmond
FULL STOP

Well yes that’s my original question, has it been stated he’s seeing out his contract? I feel like I read/heard it somewhere but don’t remember where.
Yes. hardwick put it to bed last night mate

You ain't wrong we don't pay players to play at other clubs

Chill. I’m not having a go at your club, I just asked a question, reasonably politely as best I can tell, and I got my answer. That’s all there is, no need to go on about it.

To be honest, they could give up their whole draft hand for those two and it would be a mortgage on house with like 80% equity.

hard to see for some ,thats because there vision impaired
easy to see for others because there eyes are wide open as is there mind

Im honestly not having a go here but will Geelong still be appealing in 12 months?

In the next couple of years Hawkins, Smith, Selwood, Duncan, Rohan, Danger, Blitz, 2e, Guthrie, Menagola, Ceglar, and Stanley will be gone or absolutely cooked. Cameron and Stewart also currenty 29.

They have been the best team in the comp this year and if they bring Hopper in they would be up there again next year. If I were Geelong I would be going hard this off season, it sounds like they are.

Yeah and you are probably right we likely will go hard while the window is open.
Im just concerned as to whether hopper will get back to his best or not with the injuries hes had this year..id rather wait 12 months to see how he plays before offering a lot for him.
But ill back the club whatever they do.

Neither gws or sydney can realistically afford to pay dusty even 800k nor would they want to imo.

Just like the goal review panel last Thursday Night eh :)

Anyhow good luck to Richmond if you pull it off, will be interesting to see what happens at any rate

Is Dusty definitely seeing out his contract? I think I heard that he would but I don’t remember where I read it now. If he wanted to go up to Sydney this might be his chance, and would explain a little bit why you might land both.

I saw Cotchin re-signed for another year too, so you’d think the midfield opportunities might be a little limited for 12-24 months unless there are role changes or someone leaving that we don’t yet know about.

The club says he is, Hardwick said it's definite. The inside rumours are that he is staying.

The media is saying that there might be something. Can't remember who started it, but it was a 'I think this is logical, so I'll say it might happen". And it has grown legs from there.

Even the media have taken the hint now. I don't think anyone anywhere is saying he's a risk of leaving
