Let's sell the farm for one player who really hasn't proven diddly squat at AFL level yet, not to mention the hit the player culture would take if we forced out a talented youngster that committed to the club a year into their rookie contract.

You're talking 2 picks likely we'll inside the top 10 and Rachele a pick 6 in that scenario.

So in effect 3 top end picks for a player a long way from a proven AFL talent at this point.

Madness.
No. Pick 5 and Rachele. Next year's first for Rankine.

I did preface it by saying' given they're okay with being traded' but no one seems to be able to read.

Rachele is as unproven as Horne. Pick 5 is even more unproven. Yes it's a lot and Rachele had a lot of potential, but like I said, how long do we maintain a mediocre midfield for? Gotta take a risk at some point.

No way am I giving up Rachele. He's a match winner and oozes class and X factor.

I'm beyond excited to see Rankine and Rachele team up in the forward line. With bursts through the midfield.

So you've completely discounted Rankine and Rachele's midfield potential. OK.

I seem to recall Rachele looked pretty good when he had a run on ball albeit briefly.

No but a toby green level he might get to...i would not be wanting to lose that at all
And hasn't Toby Greene looked like a jet when played on ball...we might see more of that with Taranto and possibly Hopper departing.

We should def put all of our chips into small forward / midfielder hybrids rather than having pure midfielders.

Absolutely agree with this sentiment. Sick of hearing players that "could/might/maybe transition into the midfield". We'll go nowhere near a premiership until we get a couple of elite PURE midfielders.

Berry is pure mid and his rate of improvement would suggest he will become A grade

Schoenberg is a pure mid - inconsistent-difficult to rate or put a ceiling on him

we have some options. i didnt want 5 used on rankine either and wanted a mid taken with 5 but i do think rankine and rachele will rotate through centre bounces and surprise you

PORT ADELAIDE
Trade out: Picks No.8, 33, 43, 53, 2023 first-round pick, 2023 second round pick
Trade in: Jason Horne-Francis, Junior Rioli, pick No.36

WEST COAST
Trade out: Junior Rioli, picks No.2, 40

WC lose in this
If ports F2nd pick was the only stumbling block (AFL block) with this then they just needed to trade for a F2nd from someone for this years 36 - that should have been archievable - someone else must not be happy probably WC

West Coast and North both lose in the proposed trade.

West Coast give up the extremely valuable 2 for just 8 and 12, while giving up Rioli AND 40 for a future 2nd and 3rd

North give up pick 1 for pick 3 which is balanced by also receiving Port's future 1st. But then they only get pick 2 and 33 for JHF

clearly this trade was made up by port

Both Berry & Schoenberg have spent significant time up forward, so they can play as midfield/forwards to deepen our midfield rotations.

Hopefully Pedlar also in the mix.
