When you hear from an ex South team mate how JHF was living in Melbourne, his comments post trade line up.

Interstate draftees are put up in a hotel room by North. Alone with no club interaction away from training and playing. The senior players are not welcoming at all.

Clarko promised his family that would change. And they gave North a chance. But was always wanting to go to Port. Obviously the uncertainty there allowed Port to swoop in.

You do realise that's because of covid and we were still in lockdown in melbourne when he was drafted. this is not normal.

Melbourne had still not recovered from all the shit that went on here under dan ****wit andrews. those who dont live here have no idea what we went through.....

Why couldn't he do a quarantine period and then live with a billet family?

Our Interstate draftees live with families when they first come over.

Mate this isnt about quarantine. You werent allowed to leave your ****ing house.
Again if you weren't living here you dont know what was going on. All Im saying is they would have had things in place to fit with the victorian health regulations and they were not allowed to use host families until 2022 when things opened up.

Even if he wasn't able to leave his house, there were still ways for the club to keep in contact with a player, outside of training. No doubt the well run Victorian clubs were managing it with their interstate draftees.

Zoom exists, after all.

Living with a family is better than stuck in a hotel room alone though.....

I understand what you are saying. But imagine being a 18 year old stuck in a hotel room alone. Far better stuck in a house with a family.

North's lack of contact did give him the "freedom" to fly home without them knowing.

Which is also a WADA breach for North. As they must know where all players are for random testing.

This doesn't make sense, why couldn't he move in with a player?

That would become his house and he'd have the same restrictions as the other player.

He could have been moved in with a player and I'm sure he was. This was when he first got here I'm sure.

Why do you think it was the interstate players this was done to only?

He said so in an interview with Rowey, I even posted about it at the time, you could tell he was homesick.
That said I don’t know when he moved in with him.

Hold on, he was drafted in Nov 2021.

Since when did Melbourne have lockdowns post Nov 2021. By my reckoning - zero!

I was in Melbourne in early Dec 2021 - went to pubs etc, no masks etc.

It ended in Oct 2021 before the draft.

Bahahahaha.. yeah.. it was Dan Andrew’s fault Victorians were too stupid to follow some incredibly basic hygiene and social distancing rules and thus had the virus run rampant across their state..

More like…
You haven’t got a decent response that can explain why I am wrong… so you simply say my comment isnt worthy of response and quickly scurry away…
The issue was the quarantine was broken thanks to dan ****wit andrews - not once - twice - it got out and into aged care

The quarantine was being supervised by nightclub bouncers who ****ed the people in quarantine. They then took it into aged care.

Because of that we were in lockdown longer than any other city in the world. It had nothing to do with hygiene of normal people who were doing what they were told.

So please stop crapping about stuff you dont know about because you were not here.

But Victoria wasn’t in lockdown when JHF was drafted in Nov 2021. Lets call it correctly.
There were still restrictions late last year believe me. Anyway we have now established the original text that caused this thread was bullshit.

Blah, blah, blah…

the quarantine failed from time to time in all states no matter who was running it.

it’s what happened after the virus got out of the quarantine and into the community that mattered.

in nearly all the states (NT, SA, WA, TA, QLD) it was able to be contained and the numbers of infections returned to zero.. except in NSW and Victoria.. who’s residents clearly couldn’t obey some very basic hygiene, social distancing and lockdown rules and thus the virus took 10 times longer to get under control…

not everything can be simply blamed on the government. At some stage citizens need to take some responsibility for their actions or, in this case, lack thereof..

all the other states were able to bring outbreaks quickly under control.. not NSW and Vic though.. and we all saw why.

that’s all I’ll say here. take it to the Covid thread and argue your case further if you’d like.. you can make friends and cuddle with slippery pete..

Wrong board for your political fanboi defence of Dan isn’t it?
No defense of Dan here..

got nothing to do with Dan..

two states couldn’t control the virus.. a lib and a labor one..

5 other states both with labor and liberal premiers were able to control it.. they did well.

ultimately all states had the same methods of controling outbreaks of the virus.. just the residents in two states couldn’t abide by them!..

But like you and I said.. take it to the Covid thread.

Or the failing states had a far higher population density - as well as all of the overseas returnees coming through them for most of it
