Wow there's a fair amount of contrived, unsubstantiated character assassination going on in the last few pages.

Sniff test #1: if Harvey was looking after Francis "daily", how did he manage to sneak back to Adelaide to visit the folks?

I hope you guys have some rock solid sources...

I think you will find that from about Round 8 there was footage in earlier games (one was the Dockers) where he literally gave up on field and his body language was atrocious.

This bloke is the traditional FIGJAM - now he can either become the best on the field or he can let his underlying behavioural traits come to the fore.

It is going to be interesting either way.

I don’t think he’ll always be this way, but there were numerous plays in some games where if he didn’t get the ball he’d look dejected and give up.
I’ve never seen anything like it before.

His surname would sound ordinary if it was transposed Francis-Horne

At least we will grab some Hugh Jass as our gun midfielder in the draft after next.

You are naive if you think every club isnt in contact with players playing interstate that they are interested in from the get go. Geelong with Bruhn for example. There are no rules around contracted players being spoken to.
There definately used to be. You were!are only supposed to speaking to their managers!

Hugh Jass ?

Wasn’t he, until s**t hit the fan?

Who knows

To me it seemed like things only really started happening after Port came knocking with a 6 year 700k deal after Dunkley turned them down.

I would imagine the Clarkson thing would most probably just have been a convenient excuse.

I see Horne-Francis as more of a fully uncompromising winner

He goes to a club that is a complete rabble. One of the worst sides ever to grace the field. Coached by an all time bad coach. Half of his team mates are guys that probably shouldn't be on an AFL list at all, let alone getting games.

Yes he rates himself. But why wouldn't he? He was judged the best talent in the land. Clubs were falling over themselves to get him.

But does he need to rate and respect North? Should he really be looking up to senior leaders like Jack Ziebell and Kayne Turner and going "I'll follow in your footsteps" or is he perhaps a bit more clever than that and quickly realized that was going to take him nowhere.

Zero surprise he checked out. Why on earth would you want to be at North when there's a pathway to play somewhere else

The info about Boomer Harvey came straight out of the mouth of David King, so if you want to question him as a source then go ahead, but I think you'd be hard pressed to mount an argument that he's not well connected with the happenings down at North Melbourne.

“Jason Horne-Francis said the North Melbourne Football Club was unstable, felt like he didn’t get the support – I don’t think North Melbourne could have invested any more support into this guy.

“They’ve strapped a 432-game legend, the games record holder (Brent Harvey) to his hip for 18 months.

“I’m not sure what more you could have done Monday to Friday to assist him to be the best he could on weekends.

Also I think it's interesting how you've referred to it as a character assassination of JHF, yet on the flip side there's just as much of a character assassination going on against North Melbourne too.
So it's documented that they hardly spoke to him prior to the draft. It's fact that he was living alone for at least the first 3 months he was in Vic. That's just for starters.

You don't think David King is invested in protecting the reputation of his former club?

PS not sure how Harvey could have been strapped to him for 18 months when the lad was there for less than 12...

All true, which makes me respect guys like Sam Walsh even more. I hope Rachele doesn't have this same attitude.

Theres another recent recruit to an SA club who both clubs had talked to all through his debut season and would have come home after 12 months had the AFL not blocked it

Yep a fully uncompromising winner refused to take ice baths as part of his recovery

A fully uncompromising winner skips off to Adequate without club permission

Yep it’s all starting to make sense now

If he doesn't respect the club or the people running it and thinks they're shit, why would he bother doing what they say or keeping them informed?

Kudos to Port but just remember:

Nathan Buckley went to Collingwood after one year at Brisbane - never won a flag at the Magpies while the team he left won three in a row without him.

The footy gods work in mysterious ways.
Hinkley couldn’t win a flag with Boak , a Brownlow Medallist, and Gray.

What makes the teal fans think he can win with JHF and Rioli?

Either you are a professional or you are not. That kid should have been listening and soaking up any advice from Boomer , Goldstein etc like a sponge, putting in his very best efforts at training etc - even if he had an eye to leaving after 1 year

If he really didn't want to leave SA last year, fine, sit out the draft and play SANFL and when he is ready in however many years, then nominate. No one put a gun to his head to tell him he had to nominate for the draft.

No doubting he's a w**ker but a W******who will be part of a midfield that will deliver them a premiership. I could suffer through a guy like that given the reward.
I doubt that very much if they dont win it next year dixon and boak will be gone if not more and no collateral at the draft next year

Biggest concern I have with this whole saga, is that Port were seemingly grooming JHF and family the whole time and undermining his time at North. Whilst we know it's been happening elsewhere, but not to the same extent I'd imagine, I hope the floodgates don't open and we have our few shining lights targetted by Vic teams, e.g. Soligo, Rachele, who then jump ship before realising their potential (with us). That said, we probably dodged a massive bullet by North rejecting our offers in his trade year!
Rachelle seems likely to go, but Soligo will be a crows player for life I think. Could be your butters.

North PR spinning hard now. They're a joke of an organisation - worse than us - and they're trying to save face now. Young players having adjustment issues isn't new. In fact it's common. They're just hopeless at managing it and are rudderless.

JHF will be an absolute gun and will thrive in Adelaide, and was always returning to Port eventually.

Thread can be locked tbh 🤷
