Will go again with a couple of other names Knightmare.
Kobe Tozer - Was rated very highly at one point. Two or three significant knee injuries ater and that has probably changed. I doubt we would draft him (unless he has a massive year) as we have quite an ensemble of developing talls. Where do you rate him at this point?

Kiedan Coleman - Looked a reasonable chance to be drafted last year or at least rookied. Playing as an overage academy player for the neafl team. Were you surprised he didn't get drafted last year?

Not surprised Coleman was overlooked and didn't predict he would get picked. I thought he was a possible rookie consideration for Brisbane but overlooked in the end.

Tozer I've heard is a promising key forward but I don't recall seeing him play so I won't say yes/no at this stage until I see him.

There's also Tom Wischnat.

KM what about Finn Maginness was reading somewhere that his coach was talking him up on how far he had come over pre season and said he would be a player this year what do you think. Was he first game any good.

First game was solid but wasn't Sandringham's best.

Maginness has his fans but if round one is a sign of things to come Ryan Byrnes is the class of Sandringham's midfield ahead of Maginness.

I'm expecting more from Maginness before I talk about him as a top end prospect. For now he's draftable without being a standout.

he is a good one to rate

Agreed - I think Knightmare will have Green as No 1.
Kid is a monster in the contested/clearance side of the game. V clean hands at the coal face.
Not sure how much help he’ll get from the other gws academy mids, so may get heavily focused on by oppo during nab league.

He rates the gws boy green...

I do rate Green. Highly.

He's one of those I don't think could slip outside the top 5 on my draft board and a bit like Flanders isn't necessarily top 5 on all draft boards. For mine, Green is too well performed and dominant at stoppages like no other mid in this draft.

Is he my top pick though? :p

Green won't have any trouble in the NAB League. U18 Champs, NEAFL. He dominates at those levels. 24d and 8 clearances per game in the NEAFL. 21d and competition highs of 15cp and 6 clearances per game. NAB League will be child's play for him.

Thanks KM, good reading as always.

Out of interest, for a team that would be looking at a medium forward with genuine goal-sense, who do you think we should keep an eye on?

Not Knightmare obviously. The three obvious ones who will likely be first round and possibly all three could be top 10 draftees.

Dylan Williams from Oakleigh Chargers.
Sam Flanders from Gippsland Power. (More of a small forward, but is exciting)
Cameron Taheny from Norward in SA.

Up the pointy end. Noah Anderson, Sam Flanders, Dylan Williams and Cameron Taheny.

Would you run Anderson primarily up forward, or would you use him through the midfield with stints resting up forward?

You can do anything with Anderson.

He might be best as a forward at AFL level.

My view may evolve over the course of the year but I'd be tempted to use him mostly forward and only introduce him into the midfield if quiet.

Genuine utility though. Forward, mid (in/out), back. You can play him anywhere any you're getting impact.

Seeing him in the space of something like five minutes kick four goals though last year, seeing him v Eastern feeling like he'll take over every time the ball was anywhere near him - on the deck or aerially. If you have a midfield, a bit like with De Goey at Collingwood, I'd be wanting Anderson mostly forward for the way he breaks open games.

He has genuine scope to be the best forward in this draft.

Best midfielder? There are a few others I favour as mids.

Interested if you rate any of the GWV Rebels?
I liked Mitch Martin up forward last year and he looked pretty decent in the midfield on the weekend?
I think over ager Matty Lloyd will be like brother Jake also in that he'll get on a list after being overlooked in his "draft" year. Had a very limited pre-season last year recovering from a bad ankle injury over summer but hasn't missed a beat this year.

Lloyd looks good and draftable.

Martin may be the best of the rest. Hopefully some GWV boys pop up over the season and make their case for the draft. There certainly aren't any I'm looking at as early picks at this stage.

Is Lloyd eligible for mid-season rookie draft .

I think the 2 most likely smokies are Jay Rantall and Liam Herbert who both come from an elite basketball background having represented Australia and both look capable of playing midfield roles.

Converts from other sports unless they stand out will mostly be judged based on points of difference and rate of improvement and that's more an end of season evaluation.

Having nominated for last years draft. Yes, Lloyd is eligible.

Ryan Byrnes potential top 10?

Not in my top 10 at this stage, but I'm not going to rule it out as he's a really good midfielder.

I'm rating him 10-25 for now as a very premature range. Lots of football still to be played and with games played that can change.

Way too early (and I suspect he might be eligible for the 2020 draft rather than the 2019 draft) but what do you think of Errol Gulden? From what I have heard of him he sounds like at this stage he is firming as a first round selection in his draft year, maybe even top 10?

Haven't seen to my knowledge. Happy to provide my thoughts when I have.

The next crop I tend with those top end options to have a better feel for once I've seen the u18 champs unless they've been playing TAC Cup for years and I've seen plenty of them.

Like Darby Hipwell and Tanner Bruhn for example?

he is a 2020 kid i believe and yes, he is one of the better ones, 36 disposals and 2 goals against Tassie as an underager that also played a good type of footy, i would think he is in the conversation of first round ect, but a lot can happen in 18 months.
