I originally didn't want any changes to the PB's, but given our Koch led admin is never going to have the cajones to get that jumper across the line for regular use I could live with the silver and white until a stronger admin with genuine Port Adelaide people in charge can get the job done properly.

A player who didn't even make the 22 when all players were available anyway in Howard?

A cooked ruck in Ryder?

A cooked halfback in Broadbent?

Johnson? Frampton? Trengove? Pudney?

Really? Even if we lost Powell-Pepper it wouldn't be a big deal.

Put Ladhams in for Ryder up forward and we are instantly a better team. Give Dixon an actual preseason of running so he's not moving like a sloth and start him R1 and we're a better team. Ditto Hartlett. Watts was running at the end of the season so he'll be ready for the start of the season. Ebert and Wines missed a shit load of games this year. An extra preseason into Rozee, Duursma and especially Butters. Houston training with the midfield. Byrne-Jones consolidating the level he found at the back half of the season. Burton with another year at the club. Marshall with another preseason. Drew getting more games etc.

So we lost Howard. Big whoop. He's not even that good. The way people talk about him, you'd think he was the contemporary of Harris Andrews. But he's a year older and far inferior as a defender. I went back to a post I made at the start of the year when Howard wasn't selected for R1 - I said that the way people were talking about him was the same way they were talking about Logan Austin before he got traded.

And the same result happened...traded to exactly the same team.

Losing Ryder will hurt our performance far more than losing Howard or Frampton.

I’ve been really pissed off with him, especially after a pathetic showing against North Melbourne. Still, I’m pretty sad to see Ryder go, I loved watching him snap goals from 45 out, and his ruckwork was as good as any player I’ve ever seen.
