Picturing Soy boy Sarc and the rest of the white knight army in here looking quite similar to this tbh. Real "m'lady?" type operators ffs

Nice pic George ... black suits you :thumbsu:

The town of St Kilda was named after the ship Lady of St Kilda, which in turn was named after the island archipelago. It seems that a lot of people historically thought it was named after a saint and thus pronouncing it that way is perfectly acceptable.
The misunderstanding of medieval common peasants is no excuse for making the mistake in 2024.

Case dismissed.

I really think something has clicked with Arie after Christmas.
Before he looked a bit slow, a bit heavy in the arse and legs.
Big fish small pond maybe, or the ten week suspension put him back, I don't know.
After Xmas I get to training he has been banished to running laps away from the training group when he was not injured.
Then we hear basically not up to AFL standards and will be training at Sandy.

A few weeks later he is streeting Jones and Crouch in 400 metres, his body looks trimmer and running on top of the ground.
Match sim he was full of run and as intense as anyone on the track.

To hear he had a beauty in match sim yesterday is really great. It shows he has had a wake up and it is showing on the track.
Get him to seniors level and he is a dead set weapon for us. Very excited with this news.

Sound like a bit of RTB tough love has worked wonders! Good on the lad for sucking it up & doing the work!

Mitchito I initially compared to Kouta.
After deeper thoughts, he plays exactly like Phil Carmen from the Magpies.
For those old enough to remember I’d like to know if the comparison rings true.

God I hope not - Superstar player when on - but just might have had a few notable brain fades!

According to the genius commentating yesterday they all took less than elsewhere (lol) because Essedon have such a good thing going!

Amazing!!
That’s shooting the messenger Dard he was just regurgitating what Essendon PR was spewing. We should reserve our incredulity for the geniuses in the Essendon football club that are dishing up that tripe and calling it tiramisu.

More Kouta than Carman to my eyes.
But still a valid comparison.

That may all be true but what does the St mean then? It's clearly an abbreviation of Saint, or are you saying it is just "st".

The pronunciation is clearly Saint Kilda, more commonly abbreviated to Snt Kilda.

What you are so hung up about is where the emphasis lies, and that's a strange hill to die on!
The Old Icelandic Skildir ("shields") appeared as Skildar on a 1583 map by French geographer Nicolas de Nicolay. It then became S.Kilda after it was erroneously transcribed without the r and a full stop after the S by the Dutch cartographer Lucas Janszoon Waghenaer for his 1592 nautical charts. Others then wrongly assumed S.Kilda was the name of a saint creating the form that has been used for several centuries: St Kilda

Ironic that the original word Skildir meant shields!

Yeah he's just getting better every year. Previously l would have thought he's just a place holder due to being undersized but he gets it done in good fashion.
I'm big on having an imposing defense and if Arie can make it I'd be happy to see them both in the side, though some would say it's "too tall".
Interesting times ahead, but mostly l really think we need to move past Doogs, though I'm not a hater.
Projecting 18 months, a combo of Van Ess, Batts, Ari, Stocker and Gus looks like a sledgehammer defense. Add the class of Wilkie, Sincs, Nas? Hastie? and l reckon that's a potential premiership group if they all come on.
We have the forwards and wingers taken care of, only mids to get right.
So who could match up on Cameron type forward out of that group, all good having interceptor defenders but they can't all be the same

Bonner was terrific yesterday, the whole back 6 were good..thought Essendon’s backline was exposed badly…the 800K man McKay brought nothing to the table & Cox & Reid lack body strength!

Bombers are paying McKay and Gresham $1.9M between them this season. Seriously.
