Nicks isn't unpopular

He's not terrible

He's just not very good

We have cap space up the ying yang so very difficult for our players to be poached.

Means that our handful of players who'd command attention elsewhere are well looked after

And no one would want our other dudlingers

Creates the false impression of happiness.

There isn’t an exodus as WW allude to because the players are comfortable with what they are getting.

Lets be honest, would Murphy get to 100+ games elsewhere? No. And McHenry 70+ games? No.

The fact we didn’t have a player in the AA squad of 40 says it all. Only Richmond didn’t have anyone.

We are a ****ing joke at the moment.

So we go into 2025 with Nicks. He has 2025 and 2026 contracted but surely another 8 win season isn't tolerable. That's madness even for Adelaide.

So how many games has he got? I cant imagine he gets sacked before Round 10 unless its a truly awful record, so how long do they wait? Until we can't make finals anymore? Too late if its heading that way, can a new coach even fix it halfway through the season? Doesn't seem likely.

2025 already seems like it's on a knife's edge between finals and bust, but not just bust, a big freakin blow up.

If Nicks loses the first two games next year and he will be under the pump massively.

2024 was a very poor year, and your post is very accurate

However, Keays was unlucky not to make the 40 man AA squad.

Dawson, Rankine, and Murray can play at that level and Rachele, Thrilthorpe, Fogarty, Worrell & Michaeleanney can all reach that level of play.

If we can get 10 to 12 players playing at an All Australian level and we still miss the 8, we all know Nicks has to go.

is he gone yet?
Wtf are the club waiting for?

He has shown over 5 years he is doesn't have the ability to be a decent senior coach.

Poor coaches don't suddenly get this magical ability to coach in their 6th year, because they just don't have the smarts.

Sadly our board & management are as stupid as our coach.

We are ****ed for the foreseeable future.

I'm not a big fan of Rowie.

Good on him for saying what we're all feeling and not being a club ambassador

Rowe pussy foots around the issues at hand way too much, he has been absolutely terrified for some reason to criticise Nicks this year. Yes there are issues at the club, but the team selection this year has consitently been a pisstake and for some reason this isn't Nicks fault...

He has criticized team selection. But never names Nicks. He blames the assistant coaches, Roo and the players. But you get the sense that he is too scared to really attack the club because he and five AA are scared of a boycott.

Should have been instant dismissal when he made an injured lynch sub. You can't get anymore dense.

Sorry - but didn’t Nicks say the exact opposite of this? That Smith was a big part of our future?
Do you know what would fracture a playing group? Nicks coming out and saying what it seems a lot of you want him to say...

"Smith is in decline, so we will throw him in the SANFL for the foreseeable future."

What "can" be said to the media and what actually happens are chalk and cheese.

We know jack crap of what actually happens at the club regarding contracts, salary, planning, recruiting and everything. It's not public knowledge and we speculate things into truth.

Tex said this year was going to be more about quality than quantity. And then proceeds to play injured most of the year and then rush back from eye surgery to have 4 disposals in the deadest of final round rubbers. All he cares about is 300 and he’ll be pushing hard at that. He won’t get there next year, but he’ll try to get to mid 290s where he can use public sentiment to get him the extra year needed.
Yeah, I am sure that's been texs plan all along. Getting to 300 games...

Roo didnt make Nicks pick Murphy all year
Roo didnt make Nicks keep Curtin on the bench all game
Roo didnt make Nicks run with an insane game plan at the start of the year
Roo didnt make Nicks select McHenry in a non statistical shape running role integral to the game plan

Basically Nicks ****ed this year up all on his own. The only mistake the board did was extend him. By Rowie refusing to lay any blame on Nicks is overlooking the horrendous mistakes Nicks makes almost weekly which single handedly derailed this season. Blaming Roo for this and not Nicks is pathetic. Nicks ****ed up big time and the media are granting a pass under the rebuild narrative. Like come on.

Nicks wasn't the reason we had a virtually injury free 2023, and 2024 injuries to key players
Nicks didn't break worralls arm
Nicks didn't do Thilthorpes and mileras knees
Nicks didn't injure texs back
Nicks didn't ping rankines hamstring
Nicks didn't have any part in us playing 9 eventual finalists in the final 12 games of the season.
Nicks didn't refuse to call a free against Draper for planking on the ball
Nicks has pulled Berry and Sholl off the scrap heap into the best form of their careers
Nicks dropped underperforming experienced players like Smith, Jones and pushed Laird out of the middle
Nicks played 39 players this season
Nicks isnt resonsible for the lack of depth due to failed draft picks taken before his time at the club
Nicks wasn't the one to make the extension call on his own contract...

There are plenty of things to blame Nicks for, plenty he has done wrong.Nearly every coach has them and Nicks has made more than his share. But citing something so trivial as not subbing on a 4th gamer 15 minutes earlier in a close match against a top 4 side as if it would have been the difference? Come on... I'll also add that none of his errors have been the difference between us winning a flag or not. None of them have even cost us a top 4 spot, or even a home final...

This Witch Hunt is getting a bit ridiculous. A lot of the things I see posted here as Nicks errors are speculative, meaning no one knows how it would have panned out if Nicks went the other way. The hate band wagon is looking more like the morning peak hour train in Mumbai.

I still believe that the Tippett sanctions, camp, McAsey, poor drafting from 2013 to 2018, Gibbs trade are all 10 times more to blame than Nicks for our current situation.

Low expectations, low standards, high wages, what's not to like? Only players driven to success would turn their backs on easy street.

That call would come from the fitness and medical staff. The club employes them to feed Nicks accurate information for Nicks to then make the call.

No it wouldn't, the coaches receive information and then make the selection decision. And as has been said numerous times by numerous coaches, senior players have more influence because they've been around a while and are trusted to know their bodies best.

So do you have evidence that the club medical team advised that Lynch wasn't fit to play, and the coach over ruled them? Or is this just your agenda based speculation?

Senior players are trusted to know their bodies because they have been around a while? What a load of rubbish. Everyone knows their own body. And medical staff and equipment know their bodies even better.

There is a middle ground between "lying and insulting the fans intelligence" and "honesty that throws players to the wolves"

Next minute, club announcement:

Bodies Smith has moved into a player coaching role where he will assist the SANFL side, and will continue 2026 onwards in a development role

🤣

'' where do you see Brodie Smith going forward?'

'' Brodie is still a vital part of our group and brings a vast array of experience''
