Opinion Matthew Nicks: Adelaide's Coach

Is Matthew Nicks the right coach for Adelaide's rebuild?

  • Firmly yes (I love what I'm seeing)

  • Leaning yes

  • Can't decide either way

  • Leaning no (but don't sack him yet)

  • Firmly no (he should be sacked)

Would've been funny if he spent the entire conference talking up Robbie and how great of a player he is.

Show him the respect he actually deserves.

Cause his own club certainly isn't.

Have criticised him this year but hats off for the way he handled the press conference today, put it right back on Port for disrespecting a star player and basically said they were being the petty children they are.

Hey Kochie you could of made the week all about Robbie, instead you made it about your fake toughness
Both clubs are just theatrically trying to drum up interest in a dead rubber that was lacking any .

Not sure if it has been picked up but he also was quoted as calling them Port Power

Now I may be giving too much credit but it would have been around the time he was there that they didn’t formally contacted media outlets saying we are Port Adelaide, The Power or Port Adelaide Power, there is no such entity as Port Power and we don’t want to be called that.

I’m choosing to believe this was a subtle taunt

Thought he was a proper boss today in handling all the faux smack talk and focusing back on Wobbie.
His last few press conferences have been pretty good actually. Since the one just before the Carlton game. He sounds a bit more sure of himself instead of just fumbling for answers.

Reckon Port Power are afraid there won't be much of a crowd to send Robbie off, so going for the old play book to try to drum interest from their 80,000 3-game members.

I suspect we will see them have a go at Parnell or someone equally small.

Looking forward to combat against 2 of the shittest teans put together will do that. He actually believes that beating Roos at home last week over a quarter and a half of footy was a finals like performance tells us all we need to know. The guy is delusional when it comes to positiveness, like his captain. Both ****ed in the head.

I must have missed that one. :$

Oh it was deliberate. He worked there so he knows

Mchenry. Should actually start him on the bench or he might give away 5 frees. He'll be itching to get into them

He’s clearly a great personality manager and knows how to motivate IMO.
Agreed. He’s also showing that he’s not so stubborn to reflect and change . Since mid season nicks has made some tough calls in of midfield and in selection. This is a rare skill among our past coaches. Really pleased to see he’s Changing it up now

he spins so much $h!t, it's easy to do.

He comes across as a good bloke, very much like Kenny and truthfully the club need that. He's been cut a fair bit of slack from.the media for being a nice guy.

I can understand his logic for being overtly positive as the club has had enough BS associated with it for the past 5 years.

There's a time when the performances have to catch up to the spin though otherwise it just empty words.

The heat will be turned up next year as GWS coach will get some slack, new Essendon coach the same and they wont say anything negative about Clarko. The media will go for those next coaches towards the bottom being Nicks.
Four years in no excuses and I don't think he has gotten enough games into the right kids and it will come back to bite him.

The thing is that we've caused every ounce of BS that's come our way. And it's largely been caused by our preference of optics over reality. Nix may be a nice guy, but he's also delusional as to where we're at.
