He basically said we'll be picking a younger side next year witho
Listening to 5aa interview. Looks like he wants to structure our forward line smaller similar to the Tigers. Looks like he wants to model the Tigers plan as a turnover game as well. Mentioned having two tall forwards (3max) but sounded like he preferred just two. Makes things interesting with Tex Lynch Fog Himmelberg and Frampton. Mentioned Jones/McHenry playing pressure fwd/mid roles. Dont mind his thinking already. We have played too tall for too long.
Yeah was happy with his comments around the forward structure. Wonder how Lynch fits in because he's the odd one out IMO.

Godden - the structure that came this year was an improvement, however I have an inkling the game style was influenced by him. Wasn’t attractive. Will give him the benefit of the doubt for 1 year.

Matter - improved immensely from the previous year, but was that because the midfield structure was better, Hart was that bad, or a mixture of both? Again, will give him benefit of the doubt for 1 year.

Hart - everything he touches turns to crap. I’d give port adelaide Carlton’s 2nd round pick if they’d take hart off our hands.

Can we really blame Hart? I don’t care either way about him but our midfield was poor, no defensive running and poorly skilled. With our midfield, no forwards would kick goals consistently. I’m hoping it’s all Campos fault and now midfield coach will fix this

In some ways, Sanderson was correct though - he got us to a prelim and 5 points from a grand final appearance, in his first season.
I only have 1 measure of success and that's a premiership.

Many coaches got us to a prelim, heck Pyke got us to a grand final.

Given his extremely poor performances at Collingwood and as our defensive coach in 2018, I think it’s safe to say Hart is a common denominator in failure.

I wouldn't be unhappy if we did away with Lynch's role altogether. Maybe he just becomes a full time wingman that rests forward? Maybe a young player takes the next step and replaces him?

I'm all for that. I even think he could pinch hit in the middle if required.

Pyke was well suited to developing players due to that with players like Milera/McGovern benefiting from that approach, but yeah, he became very reactive and lost this season.

Also, to not realise senior players would be your downfall was quite staggering.

At one stage he said “You ignore youth at your peril”

Then he proved himself 100% right

I liked how he said “Ken taught me a lot. We taught each other a lot.”

Then he ruined it by saying “might of”

Grrr...

Exactly why we should be trying to move Lynch out but we'd be lucky to get a pack of half eaten chips for him at this rate.

Feel like Lynch is such a hard player to build the forward line with, his roaming up the ground is good but he's not a strong contested mark, doesn't apply defensive pressure and can't crash a pack so it hurts when you've got two other KP forwards in there (that also have similar weaknesses).

More than happy with the appointment and some new blood. Young, fresh and full of enthusiasm. Has somewhat of a harder edge to him than Pyke if the pressor is anything to go by and I am wrapped we didn’t go for a recycled coach in Lyon, Scott or worse yet Voss as IMO we would then end up serving up the same old s$&t. Only way is up, bring on 2020 🇷🇴

Also lacks depth with his kicking.

Pretty good at hitting targets inside 50 though.

Yep. It doesn't need any overthinking or further reviews. We've all heard him on radio. He's boring and offers minimal insight. Can't imagine that when he puts his coaching shoes on that he suddenly commands the room and inspires the troops. All the teams he's been involved with sucked and improved when he left.

First impressions - Nicks sounds impressive.

I like he’s South Australian. I like he’s embracing being a leader of a big football club in a proud and passionate football state.

I like he’s played under Barassi, Eade and Roos. He saw the Swans through to being the big club we know them as today as a player.

He was involved in an over-achieving GWS Giants team this year. That club has a great spirit.

He’s been involved for a year with Walsh when he was involved in midfield strategy with Port, prior to coming to the Crows. He’s seen Port go through from being a basket case to being slightly less of a basket-case.

I’m looking forward to seeing the Crows get that aggression back at the contest. Some inspiration to back themselves with their skills. An injection of youth to add speed and spark. Some unfinished business from some senior players - who now have a greater perspective on life and the game and who still have much to offer.

The best thing about footy is there’s always next week or next season. We have something to look forward to in 2020!

Yup, we should have been trading Lynch the moment we decided we weren't continuing with four talls (which in itself was the correct decision as we lacked the glue to pull it off). A missed opportunity from last season (and of course, it would have given Fogarty 22 games).

That said, the simple solution would just be put in as a CHF, and run with two deeper targets. You get adequate production out of him, and play to his strengths. Though, of course, with that you now have to wonder what you do with Tex.

All in all, it is a shame we aren't trying to move him on.
