It’s not culture because I believe proper, core club culture is actually borne out of stuff like this.

When the cats started to actually become good players like Scarlett and Johnson have openly admitted that the club had a core group who liked a drink - obviously by the time we started to win and culminating in 2007 we had put a bit of a lid on it but it was still a very social club - but the knowledge of ‘where to draw the line’ came on the back of Steve Johnson breaking his ankle on a drunken night out jumping the beer garden fence in Wangaratta.

Melbourne have already won something so their culture is already decent enough. How they deal with their most important player getting himself into a bit of trouble will determine how that culture develops etc
