Membership 2024

I'm a Full Season Member this year, after having been a Vic Member since 1997, I'd love to see what the Victorian Membership numbers are these days & can't see any harm in the club releasing those figures. It think it would be great to quantify how many old Fitzroy Members are still on board along with the good size of new generation supporters living down south.
Sam Lord was on the Roar Deal podcast this week and disclosed that about 8000-9000 Lions members were in Victoria.

All I have to do is workout how to get AFL overseas.
Depends where you are. When we were in Bali the ABC International channel showed the AFL.

lionraven briztoon Appreciate the replies, thanks very much. From memory, last year we had to register for the GF ballot early in the week of the prelim finals, registering all barcodes wanting to sit together. If one or both of you are comfortable with a barcode swapping arrangement that’d be fantastic, we can organise when we know if we’re playing in a prelim - if the prelim is up there I’ll give my priority 1 barcode, and I’m confident would be able to get another one or more to use for any prelim up there. 😊

Edit - also get 11 games at the GABBA every season (albeit general admin) which I never use; so happy to offer my membership if you ever wanted it (just a matter of claiming my ticket then sending to you).

I used that WatchAFL app when in Fiji last year and it worked fine, basically just Fox Footy. Just made sure I had a SIM card with plenty of internet on it so didn’t use the resort wi-fi.

Watch AFL is pretty fine, I used it when I lived in the ACT with a VPN to make it seem like I was overseas - this was before Kayo had come along and the only other option was paying for a full foxtel package at quadruple the price.

On SEN1116 the other day it was Western Bulldogs membership day or celebrating their membership, one or the other, wasn't paying too much attention, anyhoo...

..we ourselves as a club should be very proud of our membership total, as the Victorian Bulldogs have for the very first timeo_O reached 55,000 members.

For media down here going on about Qld not being a AFL state etc etc, blah, blah we are doing very well compared to one of the Vic clubs..

To be honest I was a bit surprised just the same. would've thought being in the western suburbs for so long, their membership would have been a lot stronger..

Interesting to hear on the Roar Deal that the VIC boss said that our Melbourne membership of the 52K was 8-9K and that the VIC membership generally is around the 20-25% annually of the club’s membership year on year.

That’s the first time I’ve ever heard an estimate on the VIC membership and goes to show how it importance it is to our club.

Wonder what Sydney’s number is in comparison, given they have the South Melb connection.

I've heard figures fluctuate between 5-10k, in part because they left quite a while earlier.

Any idea what your #2 team GWS is, Donald? Asking cos of the whole ‘us playing Collingwood at the 50,000 marvel, GWS playing them at 100,000 MCG.
Next to none. I don't think projected crowd size had anything to do with that decision.

Didn’t think there would be many. Bizarro decision to play us v them at Marvel when we have a supporter base down here, and are legit contenders; and play their game v GWS at the G.

Each team justifiably wants to play at least once at the MCG. Problem for us is that Collingwood have to play 2-3 games at marvel all year and no Victorian team wants to play them there given the money they miss out on.

It’s usually just 1 marvel tenant who hosts them there.

Is this similar to Tasmania where North or Hawks need to play a Victorian team, and for those reasons we are counted as Victorian?

Do Collingwood need to play a Victorian team at Marvel?

I am having trouble accessing my tickets for Saturday’s game.
I did get an email saying they had been exchanged and they would be available 72 hours before the match.
Has anyone experienced a problem?
