Tarkyn O’Leary (wing/outside mid),
Kade De La Rue (mid/forward)
Jack Callinan (small forward),

Out of the guys unlucky to get drafted last year, have any had strong starts to this season?

Great list BH, I'd add George Grey as possibly being taken

Michael Jamieson's cousin
I'll have to look him up, see if there's any highlights etc.

I also should have added that people should feel free to add to the list if I've left anyone out they've read about etc.

After our VFL game yesterday, you could almost add Oliver Poole to that lot - thought he was really impressive in his first game at state league level.

Of that list I’d be looking at one of McLaughlin and Hutchison, and one of Sanchez and Callinan.

Will McLachlan carving it up as an over ager in the Coates League. Would be a great pick up - the type that Geelong would no doubt have their grubby paws all over if he was available at their pick.

Playing for the Dolphins this year, more through the middle, but when forward, does hit the scoreboard

Dees board curious about Roy George who kicked 3 on debut for Casey last week but was left out of the game last night

Unsure on his eligibility if he doesn't play the remaining two VFL games before the MSD.
Originally WA but now playing in Central Highlands Football league

We all love a good highlights package.....and what's not to love about this one.
He's definitely got a few tricks...who knows, maybe the Demons are set to pounce.

Will Patton going ok for West Adelaide in SANFL.

A few prospects covered in this article
After three rounds of the 2024 SANFL season and a state game against the VFL, more than half-a-dozen players once thought to be on the AFL scrap heap are suddenly garnering recruiters’ attention.
Woodville-West Torrens’ Patrick Weckert, Luke Beecken and Adam D’Aloia, Central District’s Jez McLennan, South Adelaide’s Noah Howes and West Adelaide’s Kobe Ryan and Will Patton are among the young South Australians who have lit up the SANFL in the early rounds and propelled their names in front of AFL clubs for the May 29 mid-season rookie draft.
With a paragraph on each in the article

Those highlights of Roy were from 2020, what’s he been doing for 4 years?

He’s the sort you have a crack at in the MSD, has many points of difference that would help us.

Luke Beecken
185cm
18-04-2001

A mature-age rebounder from Woodville-West Torrens, Beecken can push higher up the ground due to an elite endurance base that saw him record 21.5 on the yo-yo test at the State Draft Combine in 2019. He also recorded a 3.02-second 20m sprint and 8.090-second agility test to exemplify his terrific athleticism. He can work on his decision making with giving the first option despite being a reliable kick of the ball, and tends to do much of his work at pace. Overall, Beecken is a somewhat underrated prospect who missed out on state selection in his top-age year, but has since staked his name at SANFL League level and was added to this year's South Australia combine list.

STRENGTHS:

  • Athleticism
  • Endurance
  • Defensive pressure
  • Rebound run-and-carry

Funny how we don't need to add speed but yet we just watched Nick Daicos twice burst away from Hewett and Walsh in the last game for two goals inside 50.

Yes, we need other elements aside from speed...that is the same poster misdirecting time and again. Austin knows we need midfield burst speed he just cant address every need immediately but he will get ot it. And yes, it's not easy to find. Only using a first rounder or trading a first rounder.

Speed for me is smarts, great ball use and the ability to read the play and position just ahead of others.

There is this and also “leg speed”

Personally, I think we lack a bit of both

At this stage we have two picks.

Be very interesting to see how much if for now and how much so for future.

Very hard for a player to come into system and do well straight away. Normally, takes at least a pre season to fully adjust to fitness levels and game plan

It would be rare to pick someone who can come in and help us this season

Kobe Ryan

Midfield hard nut Ryan, 20, was considered unlucky not to have been drafted in his first draft eligible year in 2022.
A strong contested ball winner who does his best work at stoppages, he possesses clean, quick hands, tidy skills, great tackling ability and an extremely high work rate.
Ryan finished equal-seventh in last year’s Magarey Medal count, polling 17 votes, while becoming the first West player to win the Powerade Breakthrough Player award.
He has improved even further this season, averaging 23 disposals, 11 tackles and six clearances and won the Russell Ebert Medal as best afield in the Round 2 win against Port Adelaide at Waikerie.
Port SANFL coach Hamish Hartlett, a former West teammate of Ryan’s, rates him so highly that he said in the pre-season that if he could pinch a player from a rival club to play for his team he would choose Ryan.
