you know anyone we could look atIt can be somewhat dunking for apples
Cottrell, Boyd, Cincotta, even Hudson have been decent finds
We just need more battler's... er?ALl we need is for the players to play simple hard nut football and execute simple basic AFLlevel tackles/kicks and handballs- - and get it to Chalrie or Harry in teh right spaces in teh forward lines...carrying a lot of role players not playing their roles atm...
big year for a few players on very shaky ground.
Exactly Geelong aint fast they play highly skilled smart footballYOU DONT NEED SPEED - you need footballers= who can execute the basics under pressure - like simple handballs and regulation 20 meter kicks - and sticking open field tackles - the ones that matter.
Speed speed speed LMAO
I'm sure he's a ripping bloke, but as a footballer he has the intensity of a wet, rotten lettuce leaf.I’ve seen this mentioned in relation to people being critical of Young’s game, that he only conceded one goal and while his direct opponent may have only scored one, his inability to mark, contest, chase, tackle, shepherd or even get in the way caused several and I think I’m being generous.
In the last quarter with Young in defence he chases Elliott on the lead, the kicker puts too much on it, with the ball going over Elliott’s head, Young is about two meters behind, doesn’t jump for the ball, doesn’t try mark the ball, he doesn’t even raise an arm, the ball goes over his head to a small who goals.
These instances don’t go down as a goal scored on Young, but his lack of awareness, competitiveness, intent was a big factor.
Several times on Friday when the ball hit the ground near him, he displayed no urgency in picking it up and everytime he was kicked the ball, it was like he was holding something he didn’t want.
He takes the same time to kick the ball as I do to make my point - FOREVERI'm sure he's a ripping bloke, but as a footballer he has the intensity of a wet, rotten lettuce leaf.
Has some skills but just is never "on", except for that one game years ago, and takes forever to make a decision and move the ball - just has no drive whatsoever.
It's a damn shame.
What we need are players who have eyes for the goals and know how to keep the ball moving, absolute leg-speed probably isn't the issue as long as they are quick enough.Exactly Geelong aint fast they play highly skilled smart football
Holmes Stengle Close Miers Cameron Dempsey ZGuthrie Stewart. Sure I'm forgetting some but they have some absolutely elite runners on their list.Exactly Geelong aint fast they play highly skilled smart football
All three names have x-factor!Seems the options are
Frank Szekely - North Adelaide SANFL
Oskar Smartt - Ess VFL
Phoenix Spicer - ex Roo, Dogs VFL
No more than any other team running around including Carlton - please those crossed out names are no faster than the average player anywhere...HolmesStengle Close Miers Cameron DempseyZGuthrie Stewart.Sure I'm forgetting some but they have some absolutely elite runners on their list.
Speed and endurance are extremely valuable assets in the modern game
When you're comparing them to Cripps, Kennedy, Cerra, Hewett, Ollie etc they are as fast as lightning. No more than any other team running around including Carlton - please those crossed out names are no faster than the average player anywhere...

better hurry because my patience is wearing thinFunny how we don't need to add speed but yet we just watched Nick Daicos twice burst away from Hewett and Walsh in the last game for two goals inside 50.
Yes, we need other elements aside from speed...that is the same poster misdirecting time and again. Austin knows we need midfield burst speed he just cant address every need immediately but he will get ot it. And yes, it's not easy to find. Only using a first rounder or trading a first rounder.

It's not easy to find for some positions, but it is easy enough to find. Still plenty of quick and agile players going at all levels of the draft that have talent.Funny how we don't need to add speed but yet we just watched Nick Daicos twice burst away from Hewett and Walsh in the last game for two goals inside 50.

Hopefully not, as I believe Lucas will play as a backman at the next level unless his speed improves, Ben's attributes allows him to be more versatileDo we ignore any wing options because of the Campo situation?
