We’ve invested in him. Only 22 years old and only played 22 games. The big question is whether he has reached his potential or there is more development in him. It is true that statistically, Jed was fairly average in 2023. But he was a midfielder asked to become a pressure forward (we do this experiment often aka Gray and even Boak). I hope Jed takes his game “to a new level” in 2024 and silences the doubters. If not, then hopefully we have the depth to replace him.

No, statistically Darcy Byrne-Jones was 'fairly average'. Statistically Jed was terrible.

Wouldn't be a difficult task to find someone better. An orange bollard would be a start.

Look, he was drafted from Sturt as a midfielder. He's as useful as a refridgerator in Alaska up forward.

Why not try him on the wing? Couldn't go any worse. He's a hard at it tough nut, who apparently (though I have yet to evidence it yet) applies tackle pressure, and keeps the ball carrier honest. Could play the role the Master Coach assigned to Duursma last year, which is why X left. If he acts as a decoy, and shuts the oppo wingman down, he's done a good team job.

WAVE THOSE MAC N CHEESES POWER FANS
By taking him in the 2024 Port Board Buddy Draft I did so exclusively to defend the good name of Mac & Cheese... the food.

But do I have high hopes for him on the footy field in 2024?... No.

Pressure acts in the internal???
The internal trial that was played yesterday.
He played in that match and the coaching staff have highlighted how important his defensive pressure is to our forward structure. I'm asking how many pressure acts did he perform in the internal trial so we can gauge his performance.

I am not against trying to turn him into a Kane Cornes type defensive midfielder. I think William Drew has done a fantastic job with the bigger inside mids, but lacks genuine pace - something I think Jed has and is naturally defensively minded.

If we continue to use him forward, I'd prefer he be replaced with Quinton Narkle who at least looks like a forward that can kick goals and kick 3-4 in a hurry if he gets hot.

It is really weird coaching.

True story - my wife looked after Jed at childcare for a few years.

My wife has a good level Karate belt and could kick most of your asses.
If she finds out how you accuse her of making him a softie, well good luck to the lot of you.
You will need it.

PS: I'm not joking.

Can feel another big year coming on for Jed Heads. Tackles, chases, smothers, pressure acts, goals. Get excited!

I just like watching him run frantically to nowhere in particular.
