What happens with the clubs clash jumper now is it a new one or is it the current one with one of the new logo's.

I'm not sure about 2 logos either.

And the squiggley boarder of the cats forehead frustrates me!!! Is it just me or am I missing something? Someone help me!

I dislike them both, but the second one would be good if it was kept for our 150th year celebrations, in 09 aren't they?

I am still to figure out why they need to change, what is so wrong with the current one  ?

Saw this on the cats homepage. Its not great quality but gives us an idea of what our jumpers will look like next year.

How bloody stupid!!

Isn't the whole point of a logo / shield / crest etc.., is that you have a single visual representation of something that everyone can rally behind?

One image that says 'that's my club, or family, or whatever'. Something that instantly flags recognition in everyone else.

Why would you want to muddy the waters with two official logos? It makes no sense.

I mean you could make some vague stupidly flawed case if they were both completely different. But the fact they are both based around the same shield design makes it even worse!

In a word: DUMB.
I think the simple blue-white-blue combination already achieves that.

Agreed. Obviously the main Geelong visual is the Blue and White hoops. However if you are going to go to the effort of creating a logo, particularly one that resembles a crest, then why confuse the issue by having more than one? It defeats the purpose.

To my mind St. Kilda is one of the few clubs that have got it right. They've had the one logo that's been on their jumper for decades. ...And they don't touch it! (....to my knowledge?!). They understand the purpose of a single unifying logo or crest. Instant, clear and long term recognition. In short, an identity.

Our visual identity is now less clear. Muddy.

The logos aren't better than our old logo and now isn't the right time to change them.
The ISC logo doesn't look very good on the guernsey either, it would look better as a text logo rather than an image one...
:(

Just got back from the Cats Shop, so this is a bit of a logo and new merch post...

New polo, with the logo on it.

Ladies guernseys with cap-sleeves.

And they've changed all the logos around the club as well.

There's also a big banner on the stadium with the above logo as well.

I apologise for the lousy phone pictures.

How many folk are gonna buy this new merchandise, because it has the new logo/s on it? To me this seems more like a moneygrab cooked up by Geelong's marketing department above anything else.

Excuse my cynicism, I've just seen this thing done too many times in too many other areas of life. Like music labels who crank out 'greatest hits', then 'best ofs', then 'VERY best ofs', then 'The Essential collection' of the same goddamned bands, year after year.

Of course clubs need money and all that jazz, but... yeah, just call me a cynical bastard. I don't buy it.

Well, to be honest, the new items that Eliza gave as examples of the new logo are ugly, I won't be buying anything if it all looks something like that.

I gotta admit that the polo looked pretty good on the guy working there... :thumbsu:

It's not that daggy looking, and I like the stripes.

Definitely not getting a ladies' guernsey though, I'll stick with the authentic stuff!

Also, the other merch such as jumpers and stuff looks decent (but not great), I just didn't want to blatantly take pictures of the stuff in there.
