Anyone who thinks Nick Daicos is not one of the most elite and talented young players to ever play the game is either

1. A troll
2. A bitter little whinger
3. A jealous twat
4 Or someone who just does not understand football.
Or we understand there are a number of equally elite players in the comp. Its not like he is streaks ahead of those players.

Calling him the GOAT is a bit ambitious

2 goals and 25 disposals and the Fox panel losing their minds.

Please. Butters had 42 with 10 clearances

Would be one of the harder games to predict Brownlow votes for, I'd be surprised if Nicky or Neale didn't feature but not sure either get the 3 given their relatively average last quarters. Nicky had some eye catching moments though and got the Pies back in the game, so 3 wouldn't be unjustified.
Who gets the 3 votes if GOATcos doesn't?

Even as a Lions fan - I do love his game. It is a joy to watch despite the team he plays for & how it almost boosts his effectiveness. So often, you're genuinely in awe of what he does & I could seriously only name a few who have given me that feeling in recent memory. He definitely could be the GOAT or at least offensive GOAT. He is absolutely a freak.

I do hope the AFL drop the golden boy treatment though. He shouldn't be bullied/ targeted by a whole team like hawks/ swans did last year to the point he might get injured. Similar to Port vs Gawn. But it is ridiculous what a competitive advantage he has in big games by being able to get calls that not many, if any, players get consistently. As a offended Lions fan last year I lost a touch of respect for him for dropping his knees or shoulders to get frees that weren't getting paid the other way, and it seems apparent this is not a unique experience for a lot of other opposition supporters even in regular matches.
I'd much rather the umpires not pay them, and not enable him doing it, im not looking for a reason to hate on the kid. I left yesterday thinking the same, gun & freak player but surely the AFL could be less obvious in protecting their star man. Either they or Nick need to change this or his legacy will be know as much for this rubbish as we do for his skill, determination and ability.
I do realise he will always get hate purely for being a Pies star like Buckley. But right now, people are getting frustrated with the favouritism.

His clutchness is something that could seperate him in the GOAT discussion one day though, along with the Pies being the mentality Kings, he has just been ridiculous in those moments. This year vs blues at MCG & Suns away were literally insane, and hes had a bunch of other moments like that including the incredible handpass to JDG in the granny last year. Should he keep up the statistical ridiculous-ness & clutch-ness, and be lucky with injuries, he'll end up with so many individual accolades & moments that it will be be hard to argue against.

Nick is held onto at every stoppage and also off the ball and gets no ump love at all, the occasions you talk about are one offs where he has yes milked it. Just like Lohman and Mcluggage got frees despite ducking into the tackler last night. L.Neale gets a dream run with umps and most superstars do to.
ATM it’s like the umps are making Nick earn them doesn’t quite have the L.Neale protection yet.

Yep. Opposition is paranoid about him. The amount of times he is tackled without the ball is ridulous. He never whinges to the umpires, but sure, every now and again he will emphasise a high hit or something. If the umpires did their job, they would be paying him the free kicks that are there and will stamp out the illegal treatment he gets constantly.

Every mid will raise it with the umps, Cripps, Bont, Daicos, Neale all get scragged at most contests and will raise it

Neale is probably the only I would call a sook, but even then it’s not that bad

Umpires need to protect the prime movers more, if you can't beat them fairly that’s your problem

lol pies fans…

Daicos does get attention at stoppage yes, but as mentioned before by others that’s what happens to every single superstar. David King even did a little segment on Neale getting held so much but gets so little frees for. Sidebottom yesterday was doing exactly that.

Neale, Bont, Cripps, Heeney, Warner etc stay strong over the ball and in contest. Nick unfortunately loves to run with pace at contest & drop his knees/ lift his shoulders up to get a free if he’s not able to break out. No other star does it. That’s why this rep & discrediting of his abilities will grow and grow.
The umps rarely seem to miss any chance to help out, maybe it’s a directive to protect him, but don’t think those ones I mentioned there fall into him being targeted or bullied so he shouldn’t be getting love child treatment.

There’s a reason why Pendles doesn’t much hate even as a Pies star, and Daicos won’t get that sort of respect if it follows down this trajectory which is sad cos again he’s one of the biggest weapons we’ve seen.

It's not paranoia.

Offensively yes, defensively no where near it
Yes but was Danger ever defensive? Was Dusty?

Even Judd, definitely more offensive than defensive. When Murphy won the AFLCA he was called a downhill skier.

Ablett Jr obviously is the gold standard freak of nature but not one to be baselined against as a result
