One thing I want to know about the whole Hawthorn situation - where was the president and founder of Beyond Blue when all this was happening.
Classic tactic, draw everyone else into your defense. IE everyone else is doing it and so were we.Hawks presser...statement read out was barely a paragraph...they're going down the 'whole country has issues...' route in answer to questions.
Blimey...they've had weeks to prepare this.
Yeah I was talking about this earlier today on a governance zoom, and they could be personally liable for damages if they ensue.Very poor governance from the Hawthorn board of directors - they need to go as well. This happened on their watch. Everyone knew what Clarkson was like and did nothing.
I am no fan of Kennett, but if he was implicated in any way i can’t see him not being all over the article. One thing I want to know about the whole Hawthorn situation - where was the president and founder of Beyond Blue when all this was happening.
Kennet was going to sack Clarko if they lost 2013. Don't think they've been mutual friends for a while now.....Lurking in the back shadows trying to rid the club of Clarkson?
You are correct. All I am pointing out is that the review did not hear from all the people involved. From the presser just completed by Hawthorn, the review wasn't commissioned due to anything alleged. It was just a fact finding mission to see how First Nations players experiences were at Hawthorn and if the could supply additional support post playing.
In this instance I don't see why he would have been consulted.
He is OS apparently. One thing I want to know about the whole Hawthorn situation - where was the president and founder of Beyond Blue when all this was happening.

You are missing the point.Seems like some pretty weird moral hedging going on in here based on the fact that you cannot prove a negative.
"We can't definitively prove that no Geelong player ever did anything as bad as what the Hawthorn coaches are alleged to have done, so therefore we shouldn't praise the club's culture or say that we're glad to follow a club that isn't involved in similar scandals."
The fact it was so recent is alarmingSeems like some pretty weird moral hedging going on in here based on the fact that you cannot prove a negative.

Bloody hell isn't it nice supporting a club that's never at the centre of scandals involving racism, criminals, bikies, supplements etc?
Can't imagine he'd be involved in the day to day. And he's smart enough to get ahead of something like this if he became aware.Lurking in the back shadows trying to rid the club of Clarkson?
As per 7 afternoon news & Tom Browne (I'm blocked on Twitter so can't confirm), Clarkson had advised that he won't begin his time at North Melbourne until after the completion of the investigationWhere is Clarko?
Weren't the AFL expected to make an announcement about him this afternoon?
Before I read the article I thought, Nah nothing about Hawthorn shocks me.I honestly was in shock reading this, so horrific that you wish it isn’t true, Clarkson and Fagan and Burt will have a chance to reply but if even a fraction of it is true would see their legacy tarnished and they shouldn’t be anywhere near administration in the AFL
This is the story of the year, might be the biggest since the Essendon drug saga
What's the book?Man to be fair to News Corp one of their reporters wrote a book on the culture within AFL administration last year that (as Russell Jackson pointed out in the ABC) got absolutely memory-holed because Nine, which dominates footy media, wouldn't discuss it.
The Boys Club by Michael Warner. What's the book?
I guess we'll find out eventually. However, it is highly possible he knew nothing about it, especially if these things were done solely within the football department and the CEO and Board were kept in the dark about it. I'm not saying this is the case, but until we get all the facts, lets not jump to conclusions about Kennett just because we all hate him.One thing I want to know about the whole Hawthorn situation - where was the president and founder of Beyond Blue when all this was happening.
The following doesn't specifically link to the article from today, but reading comments like this that have come from the club it's make you sick when you start putting the pieces together
You are right. The book, The Boys’ Club, received very little coverage despite its extensive investigation into how the AFL works. Caroline Wilson did mention it at least once on Footy Classified but it got little publicity.Man to be fair to News Corp one of their reporters wrote a book on the culture within AFL administration last year that (as Russell Jackson pointed out in the ABC) got absolutely memory-holed because Nine, which dominates footy media, wouldn't discuss it.
I feel sick thinking about it when it's my most hated team. I can't even comprehend how I'd feel if it wasn't a club I wanted to burn to ashes beforehand anywayJust imagine for a moment this report came out about Geelong and how you would feel knowing that men you have admired, respected, and even loved have done such terrible things. That's why I think we should all have some empathy for Hawks fans today. This is bigger than our tribal dislike of each other.
