Seen comments about Clarkson at North but honestly what other coach do they get in who does better?
You could get a 400k rookie coach that would have gotten the same output as Clarkson on mega bucks.

He has not delivered on his price tag at all.

Do you think Clarksons results so far at north Melbourne are worth 20,000+ a week of salary??

I don't think a team like North, with their culture can be turned around in a couple seasons. First thing I think the coach has to get them back to basics with skills. Drilling those kicks at speed. Depending on what other deficiencies they have, do what McCartney did at the Dogs, work one part of the game style at a time. I think his was contested footy; they just weren't getting into it so he pushed that at the expense of a gameplan that might win a couple extra games. He was rebuilding the team from the inside.
Probably they should somehow, recruit leaders the way GWS did. Not stars or mediocre retreads, just guys who can help rebuild the culture.
You have to wonder if Clarkson has the talent or heart for truly building this club.

No but are you bringing a rookie coach in who doesn't know how to build a club? While Clarkson is under delivering North need an experienced coach to rebuild the club on field. You don't want a rookie coach doing that, who else is available?>

What is actually wrong with norths culture?? Are we just assuming it is bad because they lose a lot??

From my perspective he has not actually taken the club a single step forward or coached them any better than David noble did. Yet he is probably the highest paid coach in the league… he should feel uncomfortable taking his pay cheque atm.

when it comes to poor teams, a great coach can develop individuals and a gameplan that turns the club competitive… so you honestly think Chris Scott or Craig McRae would have north performing this badly?? I think there would be a few more wins on the board and noticeable progress.

From memory of clarksons coaching in his prime, he has always had a strong tactical focus on outside ball movement using the entire width of the field to spread teams and cut through them. He never cared about winning contested footy and focused on applying pressure than precision outside play.

Not entirely sure how relevant or up to date his line of tactical thoughts are anymore, but I will still give some leeway on that one given his runs on the board that he might reinvent himself again.

You're right, I don't know about their culture, but so much losing has to leave a scar of some kind. WC has veterans still who have memories of winning. It took a new amazing rookie to re-energize their group. North doesn't.
But maybe culture would be the wrong word for it, institutional memory maybe. Goldstein appeared to give a crap, but he's gone.

I mean the same guys at WCE who have memories of winning were also elite players not that long ago - premiership year B&Fs, AAs etc - and are clearly not totally washed. North have no one within cooee of that level of talent/maturity.

So does Greene get off tonight?

It's a massive case, personally I think he was contesting the ball and got to it first...

HR & Legal have taken command of operations.

It's a joke.

The more they try to protect every little sensitivity the more sensitive they become.

How on earth will a PROFESSIONAL athlete compete in a PROFESSIONAL competition if they're so sensitive as to object to a measurement that has a direct correlation to their ability to be professionally athletic??!

Going to be a few precious petals get an armchair ride through the lower levels before being exposed and wilting in a professional environment.

Good lord this is bad

“North's horror win-loss record over the past four-and-a-bit seasons has been well documented; for the record, since the start of 2020, the Roos have recorded just 12 victories from 90 games, a win percentage of 13.33.”

I saw a twitter post on the North board that if they lose the next 12 straight they will become the worst team over 100 games since 1900. And you think of all the spoons the Saints won, North and Hawthorn being terrible when they first came into the league, Fitzroy etc, it would be some effort in an "equalised" competition.

Literally North's only players over 25 are Shiels, Greenwood, Corr, McDonald, Tucker, Simpkin, and Logue.

Simpkin is a good player who's struggling for form and possibly still having after-effects of being poleaxed. Logue is handy.

The rest are out-and-out battlers and/or cooked at AFL level.

This is the 'leadership' North have. I acknowledge you don't need to be a superstar to be a good captain/leader, but there's basically nothing in the way of strong experienced talent there.
