Ehhh doesn't suit him, looks much better in the blue and white hoops.

I'm hopeful Caddy can improve his consistency with more inside midfielder responsibilities at Richmond, but I'm also hesitant about his 2016 season, which most are writing off due to him playing up forward. I also noticed in Caddy's presser that he singled out Scott Selwood as a player Geelong brought in to play midfield, which I interpreted as him feeling like he'd been pushed out of his best position by an outside player.

How much do you guys think his performance in 2016 suffered by playing up forward instead of midfield? How good is he actually?

I remember when Greenwood went to Collingwood and he's done nothing. Caddy seemed to have an average year as a 24 year old mid/forward... thoughts?
If he can match of better his 2015 season where he AV 20 touches a game best being 37 touche game and a few 10-12 pos in another games. He played more though the mids in 2015, if played forward he can go missing it will up to him to work hard for a mid spot who knows he might fit in at tiger land.

Shocked to me as well. Like we're going into rebuild. After Dangerfield came, more or less, many players (had to) stepped out of the core players, and lost some momentum somehow. It's really not a good sign for me. I hope I will eat my word and I would. I look forward to 2017.

Still I can't imagine how Caddy is in a Tiger's jumper. Sigh, I'm too emotional than the list management team obviously.

What we needed from 2012-15 was ruckmen. We got them in 2016. But our midfield is shit. Two superstars, and everyone else step out of the way, makes for a crap midfield. Dangerwood could not have played better against Sydney. And their midfield smashed us. Had Dangerwood come up against the Bulldogs, it would have been ugly. We were the softest H&A season's end 2nd, ever.

The excuse was we had too many new players coming in. Well we are losing Kersten, Caddy, Bartel, Enright. There's another 4 positions to bed in. Anyone think we are going to be any more settled next year has got rocks in their head. But if Dangerfield could win another Brownlow, wouldn't that be grand!

There is more to this story than we will ever know. Something was going on at the club in 2016 and this may be part of a realignment of attitude. Funny thing is that if we have a more explosive half back line then the mids and forwards are going to look a lot better.

I think all Cats fans are just bitter, like myself but not for the fact we lost him but got screwed at the trade table for unreasonable and below offer pick.

In hindsight we basically gave away Ablett for ZERO compensation as both (him & Smedts) were spuds that didn't repay the club.

Ablett compo for 2E and pick 24, Wells is actually giving himself 4 cracks at replacing Ablett.

Because of one particularly bad quarter in one game of.football we are definitively the worst second placed team out of 120.

OK.

Caddy is not a spud. His best is excellent, like his BOG against the Bulldogs last year. But I agree that we haven't come out of this deal well, which now also reflects badly on the Ablett compensation.

Fact is he looked good pre knee, but Scott Selwood and Menegola probably went passed him late this year.
Yeah one of his chases in the Sydney final he looked like he had concrete boots on. 24 was spot on for him, swapping picks as well was just plain stupid.

Yeah soft touch there especially when they where the courters, I think they only wanted to give up 27, and we needed to add that (pick swap) to get 24, even though they wanted a swap for Deledio, I think they bit off a fair bit of his salary to get the higher pick.

Seems we don't play games and trade if we think the deal is fair. Although Lids is a good player I think I would prefer cap space 800k + caddy wage and pick 24 over a straight swap for Deledio.

The S.Hocking takes:

We certainly acknowledge that fans are disappointed about him heading off. He certainly had a contract (with us) but from his perspective he has been provided with a four-year contract and experts will view it that we’ve got undoers but that’s ignoring the flexibility it provides us moving forward from a salary cap point of view.

“It allows us to do some things in the future, definitely, so it provides us a lot of flexibility and we get back into the draft. Even though it’s Pick 24 we still think that Steve Wells and his team will be able to identify a good player at that pick.”

“If you have a look at where Josh was playing once Menegola and Scott Selwood got going, he became more of a forward than a midfielder at the back end of the year, and our expectation is that those two guys having a full pre-season and being available for most of next year should mean that they will spend more time within that midfield,” he said.

“The other part for us is that guys like Cockatoo and Darcy Lang will find more time in the midfield with the opportunity that has been presented as well.

C'mon Doc, you know there's a group here that are of the attitude that the club cannot be questioned. Or at least are very uncomfortable in it happening. The Caddy trade is a glowing example of this. How anyone can defend the goings on of that trade is beyond me.
Rubbish. Geelong Crazy aside (and even he was miffed this week :D), show me one poster or example of somebody "uncomfortable" with any criticism at all of the club? It is a ridiculous notion which sits on that extreme edge of supporting.

Of course the club isn't perfect, but supporters also have the right to debate and disagree when they think a criticism, especially a constant non-stop one which only appears after losses, is wrong or unwarranted. As you have seen this week, supporters ARE capable of criticising the club when they think errors have been made. Would've thought that would dispel the whole ridiculous "fan boi" nonsense.

You know you can have that flexibility while also getting overs, Steve.
