Richmond found out about Caddy being open to a move after Geelong mentioned his name in the Deledio trade. Caddy called their BS and said OK you don't want me I'll go. YOU DO NOT BUY A HOUSE IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO LEAVE THE CLUB FFS. Tell me why Caddy completely changed his mind in 2 weeks when he was on record saying he was happy at the cats, bought a house and had 1 year left on contract. He changed his mind because Geelong treated him like shit - suggesting his place in the team was up for grabs. Fact.

I'm done here - proof was posted with quotes from both Caddy and Steve Hocking - if you cannot connect the dots then there is no help.

The only proof I've seen of anything is Saul & Josh Caddy talking to Gale on the night of the GF, where Saul said it would be good to see Josh at Richmond & that he was restless at Geelong - that is directly coming from the Richmond CEO.

Gale also acknowledges that he took the info from that conversation with the Caddy's, told it to the list management guys and it was them who went to work on having Caddy as part of the Deledio trade.

Considering that Geelong & Richmond didn't meet until trade week to start discussions on a trade for Deledio and what Richmond would be looking at receiving as part of any trade - why would Geelong approach Caddy during the season or finals to gauge his interest in a trade to Richmond? That makes absolutely zero sense.

For all we know, if the conversation between the Caddy's & Gale doesn't take place, Richmond may have asked for a draft pick rather than a player - but ultimately they asked for a player because that player had already had family make an approach to the club.

From 2016 GF night:

The Caddy family talking to Richmonds CEO, telling him that they'd love to see Josh play for Richmond & that Josh is restless at Geelong - still want to blame Geelong when it was the Caddy family who made the initial contact & planted the idea of a move?

It makes no sense at all why we would just randomly trade out a best 22 player for a draft pick when’s competing for a flag when the player states he doesn’t want to leave.

Anyone with a bit of common sense can figure out that it was Richmond and caddy arranging it not Geelong pushing.

Geelong was clearly aiming for a flag through the years 2017 and 2018, so in that context the trade makes little sense. Parfitt may be good, but it's unlikely Geelong will be a real chance for a flag in five years' time.

Also, Parfitt's fragile body is an issue, just as Cockatoo's is. Another recent crop of potentially good players who can't seem to ever get going because their bodies aren't up to it.

From my pov ..I don't think you can channel all you energies into a narrow thread of player age and type.. there are too many example of kids playing in Premiership sides.. ..we recruit/draft for now and for the soon and for the far off.. If Caddy alone was the missing piece of the puzzle the I doubt we would be up to 6 or 7 debutants this year.

Stop lying dude - its old. Geelong initiated the trade - he was still contracted and stated it on the record that it was GEELONG who initiated it. Not cool you are making things up. How would you feel if your boss came to you and said mmm we would like to move you on for an over the hill Deledio - of course he wanted to leave after that.. So much BS posted here.
First of all, she's a female, not a dude and second of all Richmond approached Geelong about Caddy. Not the other way around. It was initiated by Richmond.

You need to get your facts right and stop making things up!

still want to argue over shit from 2 years ago...

LOL..

There’s a better piece of evidence - someone by the name of Joel Selwood stated that Caddy was required and going nowhere, and three days later he was gone. Sounds like a club with excellent communication.

Good thing Caddy hasn’t kicked on. As of his trade he was never any good anyway apparently.

Trading in a player only to trade him out again after four seasons is similar to subbing a soccer player on at the 50th minute mark only to sub him off 15 minutes later. Perplexing stuff

Who cares about Caddy he was shit. You don't want a player like that in your premiership side Richmond were lucky he didn't turn it over and cost them the game.
Caddy has always had the talent to kick clutch goals,we could use someone like that right now.

I'm pretty sure his salary is good enough already.

The Caddy deal was initiated due to the Deledio trade - Geelong wanted Deledio and Caddys name was brought up by GEELONG. Caddy gets pissed - expresses his views to family (obvious) - Gale has a CHANCE meeting with his brother who tells him Caddy is willing to move after the way the Cats treated him. Richmond expresses interest and the rest is history. You do NOT go from loving the club and buying a house in Geelong with 1 year left on a contract to wanting to leave unless the club (Geelong) has expressed the view that you are surplus to their requirements - hence chasing Deledio and bringing up Caddy as an option. Richmond would have had no ******* idea about Caddy if the Deledio debacle did not happen OR a random meeting with his brother. Stop acting like Richmond knew all along that Caddy wanted to move and Geelong did not want it to happen. Geelong was happy to let a contracted player who kicks goals go for pick 24 and peanuts - thats the reality.
You keep making shit up. Geelong never raised Caddy’s name. You have no proof of it so stop lying.

Sounds like a club that had no intention of trading him.

You don't think his subjective interpretation of one puffy interview with Caddy is definitive proof? Shocking.
Not even supportive of his position, let alone definitive.

You have no proof Geelong didn't tell Caddy he was not required when discussing the Deledio trade so stop lying. Caddy fell out of favour after Geelong told him that he was surplus to their requirements - hence his rapid change from buying a house and being happy to fight for a midfield spot to being open to the idea of moving to Richmond. I'll make it simple for you - without the Deledio debacle Caddy does not end up at Richmond. It was the catalyst and it started with us. At the end of the year we approached Caddy and asked would he be open to moving which he obviously took offence to - he then tells his family what Geelong think of him - brother has a CHANCE meeting with Gale - gets wind Caddy is now not happy (was happy before hence buying a house and stating on record he wanted to stay at the Cats and fight for his spot) - Richmond goes after Caddy. Very simple to understand unless you have your head in the sand.

Parfitt and narkle was a decent outcome. Maybe not right now, but will be in the long run.

Caddy is a massive flog from all accounts. Just got lucky where he ended up.

Still not getting the midfield minutes he left for either, proving he’s not a midfielders arseh*le.
narkle is irrelevant, we traded a lower pick to richmond, we always could have recruited him
people include him to bolster this piss poor trade

It's all about process:
You form a theory
In the absence of any facts to support this theory, you make stuff up
You are presented with facts refuting this theory
In order to maintain your theory, you ignore, deny or distort these inconvenient facts
You end up here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_dissonance

I don't give a crap about the constant whining over why Caddy left, you asked who deserves a salary increase, I answered it. The fact that 15 plus players across the afl earn more than Danger means he is underpaid. He is arguably the best player in the land. Or does that not count coz it doesn't fit the argument?
if richmond have enough money for gc captain, we are morons if we cant pay danger enough
further north has a spare million or two

we should have plenty

Zero proof. Shall I assume trolling?

You expect us to believe that Geelong was discussing a trade with Caddy prior to the end of our season in 2016 o_O

We know that both Deledio's management & Tuohy's management approached Geelong towards the end of the 2016 season to indicate that those 2 guys wanted out of their current clubs & would be interested in a trade to Geelong. Not sure I can actually believe that any club would start trade talks with one of their own contracted players during the season while they still had games left. Or did the conversation take place in the few spare days between the preliminary loss & the GF?

Surely it's more likely that Caddy was frustrated with the preliminary final loss and expressed his frustration to his family about his lack of midfield time & that he wanted to play more midfield. His brother might be a Richmond supporter & saw the GF night meeting as an opportunity to get in the ear of Gale and start the ball rolling.

Not sure why it's so hard to understand that it was the Caddy's who approached Richmond and in turn it was Richmond who bought up his name with Geelong - what would be the point of Geelong talking with Caddy about a potential trade to Richmond before the two clubs have sat down together to work out a starting point of what they each want?
1. if we entertained the deludio discussion we knew we needed to trade for him, so we would have had a list of people to trade
or do we think we will get players with no trades
