Pick 24 is fair for Caddy - the reshuffle of 56 to 64 big deal means nothing

All these ratbags saying its a disaster - lets see what comes in with pick 24 - ive got total faith in Wells - who has got the runs on the board

When did Richmond last have twins playing for them - the Kelleway Twins ( who were good players ) - well next year they will have the Morris twins - they look like twins - and will move on the field like twin brothers
Wells traded in caddy for pick 15 plus some more. Your faith is inconsistent.

I reckon you cant afford to lose even your sixth string midfielder, if he is that, I reckon he has better. Sydney, GWS, Dogs all have about 8 midfielders, that is why they where there at the end. Jong is about the Dogs 6th string midfielder and we cant afford to lose him. In my opinion it is wrong to trade Caddy, but it is just an opinion, what would I know ahead of the List managers?
We finished ahead of GWS.

Caddy was playing forward as he was our best midfielder other than Selwood and Dangerfield to help up forward. He wasn't playing forward because Duncan, Motlop, Menegola, Guthrie were significantly better as midfielders.

Oh, disgree with you there. Other than Selwood and Dangerwood, who are absolute champions, who else is better than him?

Guthrie, Duncan, Selwood, Menegola all better averages than Caddy this year. Clearly Caddy not in best six currently. But to put it in perspective, Blicavs has similar stats, provides more utility and is much more efficient. Caddy so far down the list, I am actually not surprised this deal got done after checking that out - and kind of feel like Richmond paid overs for a guy we didn't need who was chewing up salary cap.

Maybe on the ladder at the end of the year but over finals, just in my opinion, GWS showed they were the better side.
I'll take the facts thanks.

Would rather caddy then scott selwood. Why did we get him if we had cap issues?
Hit, nail, head. Know the Caddy family. Josh was pushed out of the midfield by Joel asking for his brother to play there. Very unhappy with your coach allowing this to happen. Tigs promised him more midfield time, add Prestia and a bit of cap pressure and bingo.

Caddy played injured this year. Stats are irrelevant as a result.

Thanks for your responses. Only started to worry about Caddy when I saw your posts last week on the Richmond board. Caddy will thrive with more midfield time and kick 20 + goals a year. Good luck.

Why were even negotiating with Richmond about Deledio if we couldn't afford him? All we heard was we didn't want to lose Caddy in a direct swap.
I would have thought that Richmond paying a part of his salary would be a part of the negotiations if he left ( I think it would come under Richmond salary cap if we did). I'm pretty sure we would be paying part of his salary with the trade with GWS.

Explanations please? I am puzzled by this move, have Geelong lost the ability to develop players? This trade period has been a disaster for the Cats. Last week they knock back Deledio for Caddy, this week we get pick 24 and Deledio will win a flag with GWS who will probably go undefeated in 2017. I've got a headache. Has Wells lost the plot?

Two separate concepts here-ilike caddy but he is easily replaced cockatoo has much more talent. It wont hurt us a lot on field.

But to take 24 for a contracted player is a poor trade and that annoys me.

What a great question.

Seemingly not just the ability, but also the willingness and patience as well.

Alright, that was a bad deal, simply because it seemed the club could have had conviction earlier and gotten Deledio for him. In the end it's looked like they've poked him, he's gone "that's it, get me out of here" and the reply has been "sure Josh, would love to accommodate you, a deal will be worked out at all costs". It means clubs will think they can poach our players with ease, decreases our general future bargaining strength and devalues the significance of having a contract at GFC. We had all the leverage here against both Caddy and Richmond to block a move or get overs.

I wouldn't have been against losing a player from that group to show the rest they are dispensable if under performing. Caddy for Deledio or pick 15 would have achieved that. Oh well.

On the positive side I seriously don't think his absence hurts our best 18. Best 22 maybe. Menegola looked a better fit for this current midfield group. If Scott Selwood can get back to his best he is at least as good as what Caddy has given us, probably better. Caddy does have potential, which is the sad part of it. I was waiting for him to take that step up. If he does at Richmond, good luck to him. If your head can be turned that easily, maybe best for you to leave. If there are any others in the same boat, ship them off (for better value) next year as well.

Caddy played injured? Not that I have seen written any where from any club source. He was injured, took a couple of weeks and then was cleared to play. Given the healthy state of our list this year, I can't see how we would have played him if the injury was still relevant.
