Tarrant and Thomas were both there. I didn't see Goldy though.

I noticed Ziebell spending a lot of time with Sam Gibson, whilst Mabon basically shadowed Petrie for a lot of the drills.

Disappointed not to see Kennedy doing anything meaningful. Also would have liked to see Lynch do more, hopefully they aren't far away from full training.

Richo doesn't look to have put on any size, in fact he may even be thinner. He is certainly a great runner, covered some serious ground today. McKinley is another who I thought looked trimmer than usual. I might be wrong here as I don't usually follow him all that closely.

Urquhart looked to be suffering with some sort of injury late on in the piece. Didn't look super serious, but Gav needs all the luck he can get, so hopefully it was nothing.

Curran is still wearing that bloody moon boot. Anyone know when he loses it?

I went down for a look as well. Agree with what the others have said. Crocker lead training as Brad wasn't there.

Just to add a few things, the medical staff were looking at Urquhart's knee but they didn't seem too worried, but they sent him into the rooms. More precautionary than anything I think.

Mabon was following Drew around everywhere. In drills he was favouring his left hand so maybe he's got a slight problem there hence the greater emphasis on running.

All the skills drills were separated by either timed running activities or core strength exercises which I think are very effective. Wells was smashing them in the running activities and looked so smooth. It was interesting to see that after the 4th or 5th of these, it was the likes of Harvey and Swallow, (Rawlings even jumped in) who lead the way. Just goes to show how important it is to have multiple uninterrupted preseasons under your belt.

As a final note, four officials from ASDA turned up and by the look of it were readying for a random drug test. From what it looked like for me, and I could be wrong, I think they wanted to test Wells.

I was watching Tom Curran do a handball drill and there was something about the way he attacked it and the determined look on his face that makes me think that we may have picked up a good one here.

Well, the bloke is pretty dope.

Cheers for the reports y'all.

Hijacking TMT's login - I saw the midfielders at the NM pool after their morning training and I can report that they were looking sufficiently fit and chiselled to ensure pretty much all the mums there were no longer watching their children! Surprised there were no drownings!
Presumably just a cool-down? Only seemed to swim about 10 laps.
I wondered though whether there would be a good market for NM rashie - nearly every child wears them at the pool or beach these days and many adults - I would definitely buy them if available.

Speight driven by mates

Despite having some success playing in a forward pocket and at half forward, Ben Speight says he has much bigger plans for 2012.

The South Australian made a name for himself as the super-sub in 2011 before a shoulder injury prematurely ended his season. Now that he's fully recovered, he is back on track.

"Hopefully I can play more of a wing role this year as opposed to 2011. I started full training last Monday so once I get back into it properly I'll get together with the coaches and plan it out," he told kangaroos.com.au.

For Speight to carry out his intended plan of pushing further up the ground, he needs to work on areas of his game. He was candid in discussing exactly what he must improve.

"My run and carry and also using the ball with my speed. I have to work on all those things, putting them together and making sure I can do it consistently over four quarters rather than just one."

With North Melbourne so far enjoying an injury-free run heading into the first matches of 2012, there is strong opposition for the position Speight is aiming for. While this could have the potential to destabilise the environment at Aegis Park, Speight says it's not a problem because of the strong culture that exists.

"We're all mates and that's the beauty of this club; we'll try to beat each other on the field and in the gym, and then once we're off the field, we're all mates and getting each other up to make sure we've got the best 22 out there."

It's not only a position on the field where Speight shares similarities with his teammates. The unrelenting workload placed on the entire list during the pre-season is starting to reap its rewards with the intraclub match at Eureka Stadium on February 7 less than three weeks away.

"This pre-season has been massive, it feels 150-200% more than what we've been doing previously. Our legs are shot at the moment; we're all hanging out for a bit of a break that we get over the long weekend and then we'll be good to go for the intraclub and the NAB Cup games."

Bon is getting them up early, look out for us in the NAB cup.

But but the Bombers are the biggest hunks of massive muscles ever and are going to smash anyone who gets in their way and the Tigers have the best half dozen players in history. How are we going to beat these two unbeatables?

Even a 10% lift across the board would be massive.

It may seem little on an individual scale, but apply it across the whole team and the impact is huge.

The gel has to go. It's ****y and it reeks of teenager. He's a young man now and he needs to present himself as a young man.

Jack followed my advice and made the change and now Kieran has to follow suit.

I expect Boomer will grab him this week and whip him down to Pinos Mens Barbers in Errol street for a nice number two.

Sam Wright better not show up with that effeminate monstrosity on his head either.
