I am confident he will have a really good year which would be excellent for the club as we would get maximum value for him as a possible trade for (hopefully) Pickett. We don't have much trade capital so its the only way we can pull off a deal like that and while I would hate to lose Bergman I see keeping Georgiades as a priority.

Bergman is probably the type of player we have most of that would actually net us something reasonable in a trade. I see Mitch as a player we would rue losing as we watch him become a superstar forward at another club.

If there is any way we can get Pickett and keep Bergman and Mitch, happy days.

Sorry Janus, not seeing it. Matera was GREAT because he was quick, so quick and clean he could explode and put 5-10 meters on his opponent in 3 steps he could then slow down in one step and lace a target on the fifth pace/step.

I don't see Burgmann with elite pace, ever. I almost like the Kouta reference with his overhead ability, and ability to play multiple positions, but again Kouta was a 6'4 Ruck Rover in the days other mids were 5'11. I would be happy with a Gibbs (+overhead capabilities) career if he can win a flag or three. Accumulator who worked contest to contest with neat skills.

Am I the only one not that impressed with Bergman. Turns over the ball under little pressure constantly, gets lost as a wingman. His best asset is his size & running ability. Needs work on smarts & skill. I was happy to trade him for JHF last offseason, & will be happy if trade him can help us get Pickett.

I thought he was good against Brisbane except for 2-3 careless errors late in the game when it was over. Prior to that, he was the shining light from our preseason games. He was disappointing against Collingwood, especially early when his laziness and/or inattention allowed Sidebottom to get forward and score. Through the middle part of the game, it seemed like he was trying to lift, which is more than can be said for others in the midfield or half back (Wines, Butters, Duursma, Burton, Houston). I think he's less of a problem currently than Wines and Butters who need to find their mojo quick smart.

Yep everyone was poor on Saturday, but I have never watched Bergs and thought wow this kids going to be a gun. Mitch & Jase of a similar age excite me a lot more then Bergman.

No your not!

Ive been very critical of his last 2 games, his disposal efficiency for both games under 60%. By foot is awful and his misses targets by hands regularly. His only upside atm is his ability to mark the ball/intercept.

Runs hard when he wants too.

I'm big on Bergman. I think he will be a star. He just has all the tools. Pace, skill, toughness, marking, tackling. He also clearly works hard off the track.

It will click for him some time in the next 12-24 months and he will be away.

We have a lot of players who 'if they can clean up their disposal they'll be champions!'. How many players do this though? Sure players get stronger, faster, handsomer, even improve their positioning, as they get more pre-seasons into them, but the dial is not shifted much, IMO, on players disposal much from when they were drafted to finishing their careers in the bulk of cases.

If skills go on a continuum of Rubbish - very poor - poor - average - good - very good - great, then, at best, players can be shifted up one category from where they started. I think Bergman can become a good journeyman player, but he'd have to be the exception to the rule to get to being a great one.
