WOW! This is getting seriously out of hand why the hell are we overrating Shaun Burgoyne so much he's not Chris Judd FFS. Would much rather keep Browny heart and soul of the club and I'm not even a hawks supporter.
If this happens Port will come out huge winners.....

Tim Clarke was the a "heart and soul of the group" as well and we let him go when he no longer had a position in the team.
I hate it but I understand. The best way to improve as a team is to look ahead and cut early as sad as that is.
Please note I'm not pleased with the trade but I think I understand the club's intention.

You're absolutely right. There's a slight difference between Chris Judd + pick 46 for picks 3, 20 and Josh Kennedy rather than Shaun Burgoyne for pick 9 + Campbell Brown.

Absolutely entitled to your opinion, I think it's poor form for posters to start going at each others throats.
At the same time, I'm entitled to passionately disagree with your opinion.
I think Mad Dog is much more important to our club than Mighty Mouse.
Their nicknames alone just about sum it up. In our premiership year we played hard, tough, unsociable football. I think those three adjectives would apply pretty well to our dream-teams of the 80's as well.
The two teams that made the Grand Final this year - St. Kilda and Geelong, played a hard, tough, high-pressure, tackle heavy brand of football.
Brown is a player who while lacking on skill, makes up for it with all of that sort of stuff in spades. You have to take more into account than pure skill.
Who in the hell are you? Grow up you moron or piss off. I am perfectly entitled to my opinion. At least it was put forward with some logical thought, some background information and some structure. Empathy to Brown and supporters is only one aspect of this but some of you are carrying on as thought CB is some sort of superstar. He is not and never has been. He is simply a good, honest, tough footballer. Trades are part and parcel of the sport and it is not as though we have put Franklin, Hodge or Mitchell on the table. Campbell Brown is in our 16-25 group of players and is absolutely tradeable.
Oh, and one other thing....I can categorically tell you that Campbell Brown was recommended as a tradeable commodity by his own leadership group. That is a stone cold fact. So vent your annoyance in the right direction. No individual is bigger than the club.

Brown was recommended by his own leadership group as somebody that is tradeable. That is not to say that they specifically wanted him traded but that he was somebody that is not seen as critical to our next flag tilt. That is a fact. Whether you and others want to believe it is entirely your call.

Im shocked the Brown has been offered as I have always been led to believe that the Hawks were the family club
first Croad now Brown, both lads absolutely bleed for the club, this has the potential to do some serious damage to the playing group

I am only outsider and don't know the internal situation, but to me something like this could rip the heart and soul out of the club. I remember Campbell Brown running into the goalpost trying to stop a goal in that elim final against Adelaide in 07, he is as tough as they come and lifts the team with play such as this.
If true Pelchin and Clarkson must be very careful. Eventually someone like Buddy could see this and think "Stuff it, if this is how they really treat loyal servants then I may as well chase the moolah rather than continue accepting well below market rate salary". I think Hawthorn are on the verge of something great and don't have to resort to risky measures, this year you were completely decimated by injury.

I've emailed the club. This is a disaster and will screw the club from the inside, bullshit about Hodgy doesn't help either. Burgoyne is not worth it and may find Hawthorn an unpleasant place to be . Browny is the heart and soul of Hawthorn spirit, plus he's a great footballer .Stuff Burgoyne and bloody Port. Fancy him playing along side that ugly bloody Tredray. This better not be true. Email the club people let them no he's OUR PLAYER.

I think you'll see that his inside and clearance work are exceptionally. When up and about he provides a lot of tackles around the packs aswell. He is no Danyle Pearce outside reciever.

Bingo, Pelchen and AC would have held some very serious discussion about this and I am sure if the leadership group had said no way then that would be the end of it.
As a Hawk member I also love Brownys passion but I also loved Croad and was shattered when he was traded (look how well that ended up for us)
I have read posts from people saying they will tear up their memberships if this deal gets done.
I fully appreciate that it's an emotional time but never never never ever forget.
The Club is bigger than the individuals.
We were happy enough to slap Clarko and Pelchen on the back for delivering our 10th Premiership.
How about we give them the benefit of the doubt and at least acknowledge they just might know a bit more than the average supporter about what is best for our team in the pursuit of our 11th Flag
