For God sake don't knee Youngy - it's fragile enough as it is.
I forgot C. Young and P. Karnesis

For God sake don't knee Youngy - it's fragile enough as it is.
This 22 is purely what i'd like to see by maybe Round 10.
B: Toovey - Brown - Williams
HB: Lamumba - Reid - Scharenberg
C: Young - Ball - Sidebottom
HF: Dwyer - White - Beams
F: Elliott - Cloke - Fasolo
R: Grundy - Swan - Pendelbury
Int: Adams, Thomas, Freeman, Macaffer
A few players pretty stiff to miss. I think our depth is magnificent.
Seedsman, Maxwell, Kennedy, Lynch, Sinclair, Keeffe and Goldsack aren't stars, but they can play a role.
I've got high hopes for Karnezis and we've got some promising young guys like Oxley, Broomhead, Martin, Marsh and Langdon floating around too.
B: Toovey - Brown - Williams
HB: Keefe - Reid - Scharenberg
C: Lamumba - Pendlebury - Sidebottom
HF: Swan - White - Karnezis
F: Elliott - Cloke - Blair
R: Grundy - Beams - Adams
Int: Ball, Macaffer, Fasolo
Sub Seedsman
First time poster so go easy, Injury free with all available i would like to see Karnezis as the third tallish forward i think he will be fantastic for us straight up and i have liked what i have seen from him in the past. Swannie forward is a must this year as i think we have a very strong midfield without Swannie in there but up forward he would give us so much versatility and really is a nightmare match up for the opposition defence. Ball and Thomas are fighting for the same spot for me but Ball gets first go. Maxwell may well start the season but Scharenberg the obvious one to take up that role when fit. Fasolo is there but that spot could go to anyone of 10 at the moment. Seedsman gets the sub due to versatility for mine
Plus unlimited changes at all breaks
What I would like
B: Williams - Brown - Reid
HB: Broomhead - Keeffe - Sidebottom
C: O'Brien - Ball - Seedsman
HF: Beams - Cloke - White
F: Elliott - Paine - Fasolo
Foll: Grundy - Pendlebury - Swan
Inter: Thomas - Adams - Macaffer - Young
Both Toovey and Williams would be ideal taggers if they can get the tank over preseason. I know caff did some good jobs but he gets eaten by the more agile and quicker mids.Round 1:
B: Sinclair Brown Williams
HB: Maxwell Keefe Seedsman
C: Beams Swan Young
HF: White Reid Sidebottom
F: Elliot Cloke Dwyer
R: Grundy Pendlebury Ball
I: Macaffer Lumumba Adams Blair
Hopefully by the end of the season:
B: Sinclair Keefe Williams
HB: Scharenberg Reid Seedsman
C: Beams Swan Sidebottom
HF: Dwyer White Mooney
F: Elliot Cloke Witts
R: Grundy Pendlebury Ball
I: Macaffer Fasolo Adams Broomhead
This team has:
- Youth - basically only two veteran in Swan and Ball.
- Finally a few quality users of the ball across half back - Scharenberg, Reid, Seedsman and Sinclair all very creative with their play. Our half back set up has sucked in recent seasons so this will be a huge improvement on last season where we've had Maxwell, O'Brien, Toovey all who are poor users of the ball. I haven't put Toovey in even though if fit he is almost certainly best 22. It's difficult to displace Williams from the back 6 on 2013 form and I think both of them down there will negatively impact the quality of our rebound. If Toovey stays fit, one of them will have to play through midfield or an Toovey's case possibly as a utility.
- Midfield with great depth and well balanced now that Adams comes in and plays inside midfield. I'm also hoping that Fasolo can make the transition there, he has the skills and should have the right build for midfield, his tank is an issue though.
- Two specialist rucks. Big fan of this and the added bonus with Witts is that he creates a nasty matchup for opposition defenders. Also with White's mobility we shouldn't seem too top heavy especially with Elliot and hopefully Mooney who should be good at the defensive forward pressure. Both Witts and Grundy need the game time and will not be physically developed enough to play 80%+ in the ruck. I would prefer them sharing duties, getting the experience whilst not getting burnt out rather than going into matches with a non specialist back up like Lynch or White.
- I see our next tilt built around these players. Brown is very stiff, he hasn't really done anything wrong however I regard Keefe as a better shut down defender and I think it's unlikely we'll play all 3 of Reid, Keefe and Brown in defence. Lamumba, Maxwell, Blair and Lynch have been solid players in their time and whilst they're around the mark for best 22 I can't see them being in a best 22 in 2-3 years time when we could be realistically challenging. For that reason, and assuming they're capable of competing to make the 8 (which they should be), I'd prefer to be using the younger players listed above as our best 22 rather than using players who might be marginally better however will not be around in 2-3 years time.
Shocked so many people want fasolo in defence
Has never defended in his life and is brilliant up forward, plus he would hate going in the backline and lose his flair
This is the team that I want to see by mid season. If it were round 1 I would replace Scharenberg, Fasolo and Broomhead for Maxwell, Goldsack and Blair
B: Marley Williams Lachlan Keeffe Alan Toovey
HB: Matthew Scharenberg Nathan Brown Paul Seedsman
CEN: Steele Sidebottom Dayne Beams Heritier Lumumba
HF: Alex Fasolo Ben Reid Dane Swan
F: Jamie Elliott Travis Cloke Jesse White
FOLL: Brodie Grundy Scott Pendlebury Josh Thomas
BENCH: Tim Broomhead, Luke Ball, Taylor Adams, Brent Macaffer
No Young, Dwyer, Martin, Goldsack, Blair, Maxwell, Kennedy, Sinclair or Karnezis
