Random ones for the day.....
What has our drafting been like of late? Average at best? DBJ and Howard look solid, all other players are either too early to tell or have been moved on.
....
Clurey, Houston, SPP, Marshall, Farrell, Bonner & Lienert, say "hi."

And Hayes, Atley, Patmore, Garner, and Drew would also like to meet you!

I really want to know what the club is doing.

A crap load of old players, slow midfielders (just overall a slow team) and nowhere near enough tall defenders.

Just trying something different

I did forget Clurey. The rest I’m optimistic about but they haven’t proved themselves yet. All of those players together, excluding Clurey, have played less than 50 games.

Where are the class of 2009-15 who will drive us forward???

Well we only have 1 player left from the combined drafts of 2009, 2010 and 2011 (Jonas). Those are the players who would right now be in the 25-28 age bracket, aka the absolute core of your team. It's a disaster really.

Only value of Menzel is Geelong intel.

WB, Rich, and WCE have shown that small, fast and new forward/wing recruits can have an impact.

We r way too slow with Boak, S Gray, our
Mids, etc.

PASS on Menzel.

Was about to say I would look at Tim Mohr for potential defender depth, but then saw he was 30. Very surprised by that. Thought he'd be around 26.

Back to back knee reco's killed him. He was looking pretty good for a stage.

He was mature aged already when GWS pre-listed him

Yeah, I read that. Didn't realise till when I saw he was delisted and was mildly interested in him but then saw he was a mature ager and he's 30.

Good Stuff REH

Seems perfectly correlated with all the discussion over the last few weeks
Traded in good ordinary footballers, traded out an elite player, a good player and two good ordinary players on the decline.

we are going to be pulled apart in 2019 by speed

watch boak and co bumble and fumble knowing every time they touch the ball they will be closed down in milliseconds

Gary Buckanara with what is in my opinion, a pretty balanced take on our list....
  • Doesnt bag out our big-name recruits from last year ... yet
  • Raves about the addition of Lycett
  • Not overly phased we lost Wingard & Polec
  • Reckons we got a good deal for Wingard & loves the addition of Burton
Missing ingredients:
  • The big-name recruits need to fire this year
  • Will need to replace the lost speed in the draft
  • Need stronger commitment and sacrifice to find a harder edge
  • Need to play for each other more
  • Need Hartlett back at his best

Rooch reckons we are rebuilding but too scared to say we are rebuilding.

SO what is it at Port Adelaide?

There were 11 changes to the Power player list last year — and, so far, 10 through the most recent trade and delisting sessions. Virtually half the squad has been turned over in two years. But club chief executive Keith Thomas says it is not a “rebuild” — a theme that AFL clubs are reluctant to have attached to them for fear of being seen to be falling back, rather than advancing, in the premiership race. Or on a slow journey, as noted at Brisbane.......... But no-one — certainly not Port Adelaide today — will say “rebuild”. Carlton called its recent clear out — 54 list changes from the end of 2015 when it appointed Brendon Bolton as senior coach — as a “reset”.........

The tell will be in how many mature players we pick up this year.

Legspeed is secondary to efficient ball movement imo. Being slow isn't as much a problem for us as being poorly skilled is.
We need 22 players to have better skills, but even with better skills you still 4 or 5 players with genuine blistering speed. Look at Hawthorn they won flags, they had a few players with genuine speed when they also had great skilled players but slowish in leg speed.

You're not wrong but i don't think we lost any of that over the trade period. We're still in the same position we've been in for a while.

Tidy up the ball movement and we'll look a lot better than having quick legs that still cant kick.
