Ladhams was worth another year due to his age and size, but he will need to show something next season to survive after that.

Trengove is handy at sanfl level and could be reasonable midfield back up for a game here and there, but that is about it.
Maybe,( but I suspect the rules won't allow it ), he is a chance to replace Summo as skipper of the Maggies.

McKenzie would have to be just about the luckiest player in the country to still be on an AFL list, I doubt he would be considered by any other club in the comp, and to give away Hombsch for what amounted to a roll of that shiny toilet paper that used to hang behind country shithouse doors, and keep him, is in my humble opinion WTF territory. o_O

I raised this 3 years ago and was laughed out of the thread. I just can't believe our list management direction given the obvious cliff approaching.

E.g..

:p

Hahaha, elite bump from you Cookbook.

To be fair, I wasn't to know that we'd voluntarily eject Polec and Wingard and that Hombsch's hip would render him a cripple in his mid 20s :(

Lol none of us could've predicted it. If there's one positive from back then, it's that we have had a larger influx of juniors than it probably looked like we would have (Howard, Houston, Bonner, Burton, Marshall, SPP, DBJ). However the issue is obviously still the middle tier, with Wines now left on his lonesome as that middle ager to lead this squad in a few years time.

My biggest worry personally is our depth, because I fear that even if we cater for the outgoing talent in the next 3-4 years with some good picks (and drafting is always a big if), we will still have a gaping hole in depth underneath that. Given the large amount of crap still on our list that'll be turned over in the next 2-3 years along with the top end talent.

I have figured personally that I reckon the club may see this hole appearing on their long term planning and have kept the salary space with this in mind, understanding we will need to keep bringing FAs over the next few years, to accelerate the repair our damaged list.

Hewett has had bad luck with injuries; also has been been played in many positions (midfield, attack, defence, tagging) due to poor Magpies options.
Against West Adelaide back in May he was switched onto Rankine in the second half.....
Young AFL draft hopeful Izak Rankine caused the Magpies problems with his pace at half forward in the first half, but Lokan moved Cam Hewett onto him and the coach was full of praise for the youngster.
“I thought their small forwards were very good but Cam Hewett went to Izak Rankine in the second half and kept him to four disposals” Lokan said.

Hewett seems to be the only "Mr Fix-It" option we have who can play multiple roles...give him a fair go!

Hewett, McKenzie, Trengove and Ladhams won't be here in 2020.
This is the issue for me. Hewett, or any of those 4, in isolation I could probably live with but it always feels like we are part planning for next years delistings. Pointless.

It’s a bit like how we recalled Jake Neade for round 23. Were we expecting him to kick 5 goals and revive his career in a dead rubber? Look to the future, even if that future is a delisted free agent like Partington.

I know it's a newish situation the way the Magpies are the Power's reserves but surely you don't have an AFL-list player as reserves captain?

I thought the restrictions placed on who the maggies could recruit as captain, had been eased? If so, no way trengove becomes our captain.

Players we should consider as a DFA or rookie:

Jordan Murdoch
Tom Bugg
Hugh Goddard
Luke Partington
Kieran Collins
Would like Murdoch and Partington but can we still delist players or can we have up to 40 on main list?

What can peeps tell me about how Garner and Patmore went in the maggies this season and what their best positions might be. Is Garner fast? Never really seen him play. Can Farrell eventually play somewhere other than the forward line?
Garner is a medium sized defender who plays in the back pocket. Not a flanker.

Patmore can play back flank/wing/forward flank. But I reckon he'll end up being a forward flanker.

Farrell should stay as a forward flanker or small forward. He's a goal kicker, a good finisher.

So jonas cluery or Howard get hurt.... or worse 2 gets hurt.
Who replaces them?
No hombsch.... no ummm
As it stands, Lienert and McKenzie are the only ones backing up Jonas, Clurey and Howard.

Lienert I also think makes the bench of our best 22 as a flanker/4th tall defender.

Scary stuff....
I have lienert in my 22 also.
So McKenzie backing us up as a KPP defender. Yikes! Even of we draft someone I dont want a 18yr old as depth straight away.
Losing hombsch is baffling now

Not only does Hombsch need to be replaced but we still have to replace Austin too.

Yeah Hombsch any day. Stupid to piss him off like that maybe he didn’t polish Hinkley
But Mckenzie can kick the ball over the HQ building...

He should drop kick the footy through the coaches box window & hit Hinkley right in the noggn.

Surely we’d have a look at Cheney as depth if he gets the cut and costs us nothing? We have zero depth.
I laughed at this, list management has thrown away any potential KP depth to the extent that Kyle effin Cheney looks a promising option to bolster the defensive slots ....

If Doc Brown rolled up to Queen St in a silver Delorian and gave you a run down of the clubs performance vs decisions circa 2015-18 on the day after that 2014 prelim you’d be odds on the think it was sabotage
