I laughed at this, list management has thrown away any potential KP depth to the extent that Kyle effin Cheney looks a promising option to bolster the defensive slots ....

If Doc Brown rolled up a silver Delorian and gave you a run down of the clubs performance vs decisions since that 2014 prelim you’d be odds on the think it was sabotage
Hilarious how we were a better side before we added the "missing pieces".

So jonas cluery or Howard get hurt.... or worse 2 gets hurt.
Who replaces them?
No hombsch.... no ummm

Liernart is fine to replace Jonas
If Clurey goes down, Howard takes full back and liernart can play CHB

If two or thee go down watts and Westhoff can do the job

Lulz and who plays forward if that happens Cam Hewitt?

Ah I forgot in Kerns mind “Where we’re going you don’t need forwards”.....

Hewitt is ok, we have zero depth in the middle and I can see him finally becoming a full time midfielder (instead of one game here, one game there) at the Maggies..

If we play Trengove in the toumpas oh look I'm wasting my career role across half back.. That would be a complete waste of time, and a spot on the list.

McKenzie has zero chance of being a defender for the power, recruit someone tall defenders as dfa, rookies from sanfl wafl or vfl clubs and get McKenzie up forward as a third tall forward. He has a decent kick.. Let's see if he can put a few through the taller posts, noone else on the list can.

Didn't we have this problem with rucks this year.. we dont want to be robbing Peter to pay Paul again.. need PROPER kpd depth.

Watts is a lazy player and should be playing in the Magoos and called up when needed. Then to avoid a repeat of the low work rate, make him accountable and play him in defence.

After all we have Dixon and Marshall forward, supported by the resting Lycett and Ryder.

Further no other top ranked side has a Westhoff type in the midfield, Port need to stop trying something “new” and go with a set up that works. I do concede he’s a great player but he’s now 31+ and age will start to catch up.

I like Hewett when he plays midfield. Nothing flashy but solid blue collar mid who gets the job done. Seems to be another polarising type. Could become a useful tagger who also gets his own ball.

I may be wrong here but wasn't DBJ pretty much on the cusp of a delisting before he had a good preseason and broke into the first team in 2016? From memory he never really stood out in the Magpies and was even playing reserves at one stage, but we held onto him just long enough for him to finally hit his stride and find his place in the team. Correct me if I'm totally wrong though.

I agree with those suggesting that Hewett should've been delisted, but I'm not upset that he's still hanging around - he could still come good yet and as long as he's in Port colours I'll back him in.

The quality of the 40th player in your squad is a bit negligible.

Yeah he would have been first out the door I think but he got given a chance against a makeshift AFL team full of top-up players and since then, has missed just one out of 65 games and that was for disciplinary reasons so that's an outstanding effort by him.

Watts might not be available for AFL selection round 1 anyway depending on what the club does.

Ok, so if at the age of 21 he's still only a 'solid blue collar mid who gets the job done' at SANFL level, why is he still on an AFL list? Will Snelling is miles better than Hewett at the same age and we cut him.

It really isnt any different to every reserves captain prior to our AFL entry
It's something I had considered but in this SANFL/AFL context making an AFL-list player our reserves captain really does feel like the kiss of death.

We have so many players to de-list next year. I'm struggling with our strategy. We must be paying way under the celery cap. I thought this year would be a good year to de-clog, especially given SA were so strong in the championships with their depth. I''m really confused by the 'trading' of our tall defender depth for nothing. I'm sick of the club holding on to depth players just to clog the list. Maybe they will be 'meh' one day? Maybe meh players will help the magpies? Maybe if you bring in some new talent they will be good?

Is he taller? With Snelling and Neade gone maybe we are 1 S Gray away from being midget free?
