USA Policy positions of Donald Trump; let's see how many he achieves

The people I blame are the GOP. the enablers. They should stand up for what is right if they have any backbone. alas, but care more about their position than their job, which is to serve the people. Trump himself only cares about enriching and power.

Unfortunately I don’t think this is true. I did for a long time but I now realize how much Trump is motivated by getting even. He appears to have boundless energy and enthusiasm when it comes to destroying people he believes have slighted him.

I don't know what is more concerning: Trump's incompetence in general or his vindictiveness in seeking revenge over people doing their jobs.

Behind the chaos, I suspect there are a few different agendas driven by different groups/individuals. And not all are incompetent.

We have Trump who wants (in equal measure)
- more money for him
-revenge for perceived persecution
-attention

Then you’ve got the group behind Project 25 that wants to
  • dismantle government
  • establish a white, Christian patriarchal hierarchy

And then there are the oligarchs who want money, money, money. And in the case of Musk, I suspect he thinks he’s having fun sticking his fingers in places they shouldn’t be close to. And he craves attention too.

Although their wish lists are different, there’s enough overlap in how to achieve them that they’re acting in concert. Trump may be too dumb to execute the plan but the people lurking behind him aren’t dumb. They’ve spent years working out how to achieve this. And Trump is a useful blunt frontman.
Diplomacy should be done with softy spoken words..and with a heavy stick. As China has figured out with Wolf Warriors, pissing everyone off is not a good way to get things done, even if you have a very big stick
It will be a tricky tight rope for our government to walk. Especially if Trump pushes further on his plan to clear out Gaza for the real estate developers.

It's about the substance or lack of, in his words. It is that he is not using poli-speak, or lawyerly, educated language. That is what they identify with. TBH I get tired of the measured, passionless tones of many of the politicians. Especially on issues that I think require it. Show us that you give a damn, and aren't there just for the power and the money that comes with it.
I saw Stephen A. on Maher. This is, in his irritating way, how he explained Trump's magic power. He talks like them, but being low-info, detached citizens, they don't actually listen to the content. Or at least not critically.
I agree with this.
That, and the fact that millions of Americans are addicted to the moral universe of pro wrestling, and he has superimposed that moral universe onto US politics.

Boo the villain, cheer the hero. They lap it up. Means they don’t have to think too hard.

All well and good when it’s for the purposes of entertainment, as in pro wrestling, but tragic and lethal when it infests politics, which involves real people’s lives, not costumed archetypes.

I see you’ve met Xtreme.

The Trump administration pushed out a top Treasury Department official this week after he refused to give Elon Musk’s cost-cutting team access to the government’s vast payment system, part of a bid by the so-called Department of Government Efficiency to choke off federal funding.

David Lebryk, a career civil servant who oversaw the more than one billion payments that the federal government makes every year, was placed on administrative leave this week after resisting requests from Mr. Musk’s lieutenants, according to people familiar with the circumstances, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive internal dynamics.

On Friday, Mr. Lebryk — who had briefly served as acting Treasury secretary until the confirmation of Scott Bessent this week — told colleagues that he would retire after more than 35 years of working for the government.

Nyt

Musk getting in the cookie jar , what could go wrong
Trump getting others to do dirty work

Also

A federal judge on Friday ordered the Trump administration to keep taxpayer dollars flowing to 22 Democratic-leaning states for all congressionally approved government programs, including those that could run afoul of President Trump’s ideological tests.

The decision, signed by Judge John J. McConnell Jr., is a temporary but significant victory for the Democratic attorneys general from those states and the District of Columbia, who sued the administration in U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. The order applies only to the states that filed the lawsuit.

It requires the administration not to “pause, freeze, impede, block, cancel, or terminate” taxpayer money already allocated by Congress.
How much you want to bet that Eloi's boys didn't have any safeguards or firewalls for any data transfer or whatever they wanted to do. Just some total cowboy demand to get at the data, and the professional there said they needed such in case of leak/hack/file corruption etc. Cue tantrum.
So on brand for MAGA/Trump organizations.

Jesus Christ it’s icky…

Is it just me or was the first Trump term not even this gross?

Blaming equality hires for plane crashes (apparently the pilots were white, as 97% of pilots are)

A few hours after the tragedy and he’s on social media selling his crypto scam.

God it’s all disgusting. These people are are scum, they’re like the worst used car salesmen you’ve ever met x10.
Interesting that two of the Heliccopter pilots have been named. The third pilot's name has been withheld at the family's request.

Reading from different sources, it appears that the third pilot may have been female

If so, her name is going to be dragged through the mud from the President down

The UFC has been grooming it's fans for Trump for over a decade now

It really hasn’t taken long to show just what scum Trump and his people are. Absolute gutter crawlers.

Agreed, and add a dash of social media grift.
I can't remember who it was, but a commentator on the hearing from the past few days said the difference between what the nominees were acting like in the hearing room, and in their online persona/image/life was stark. In the hearing they had to face the real world and real world questions (though I thought some lines of questioning were not enlightening). I'm talking about D questioners obviously. The online ecosystem is bleeding over into real life and changing norms and values of formerly common sense things like truth and facts. It's all performative and most of the populace are sophisticated or critical enough to see behind it. With the advent of social media in the internet age, there has been a bigger paradigm shift in society than the invention of the printing press or TV.

White hat or black hat.

Federal workers have been instructed to remove any reference to their identifying pronouns from their email signatures and other forms, as agency and department leaders work to follow President Trump’s executive order to scrub all references to gender ideology in official government materials by 5 p.m. Friday.

“All employees are required to remove any gender identifying pronouns from email signature blocks,” instructions to State Department employees read, in an email they received Friday. Workers at agencies including the Labor Department and the Department of Veterans Affairs received similar directives.

All too true. What could possibly go wrong with giving people the ability to shout nasty things at total strangers on the other side of the world?

The third pilot has been named on Twitter as a black trans woman.

One catch - the person named is still alive.

The trouble with all these DEI arguments is that they are based on the core racist assumption that there is no way a non-white could ever be more qualified for a job than a white.

Any job given to a non-white is seen as token, and a result of lowering the standards rather than hiring on merit.

Tell me about it.

Happens here as well.

Even if you have multiple degrees, years of experience.....You are not deemed able to do a job.Let alone being a woman on top of that.

Bigotry is not just in America.
