As the New Yorker magazine summarises in its cover story this week, to distract from his larger plan to gut the federal government, the President has taken a relatively powerless DEI program and turned it into an excuse for everything that goes wrong in the country.
But in using it as a platform to go on a political offensive against his political enemies in relation to the Potomac air crash tragedy he is in danger of exposing the truth of his expenditure cut plans. Because republican majority congress cuts to FAA funding is increasingly seen as the root cause of the spiralling rise in near miss incidents across US airspace in recent years.
More than 90 percent of the country’s 313 air traffic control facilities operate below the Federal Aviation Administration’s recommended staffing levels, according to an analysis of staffing data from the union representing controllers obtained by The New York Times.
Incidents like this near miss at Phoenix Airport in January are becoming alarmingly common across the US as Congress cutbacks on Federal aviation budgets start to bite on staffing levels:
