USA Policy positions of Donald Trump; let's see how many he achieves

I think this is the point.

Trump is out for vengeance against anyone he perceived slightest him. Project 2025’s cohort want domestic chaos so they can declare martial law.

Doing these two things happen to align.
I thought Americans might have been able to peacefully resist for a while until I heard news of Musk gaining control of the Treasury. It would not surprise me in the slightest if I hear about people not receiving welfare payments. That's when shit will start to get real. I just hope people can rally together and help one another out rather than leaving the isolated with nothing to lose. My expectations of this are very low though.

Its quite clear Australia are in the good books of Trump.

When the defense secretary, the Fox news parrot dude, was asked to name an ASEAN country, he named dropped AUKUS and the Nuke Subs as the answer.

I find the whole American system to be undemocratic. All these pardons and executive orders...yuck.
I hope we develop more of an arm's length relationship with the US moving forward. I expect China to recognise an opportunity and attempt to capitalise but I hope we keep them at arm's length as well. Ideally we start working more closely with everyone else without completely burning bridges with the US and China.

agreed. I dont think we will be rolling out the red carpet for Trump and his conies anytime soon.

Getting closer to ASEAN would be a good footing to have. And our leaders actually know where that is on a map!!!

Trump's eye of Sauron will focus on us at some stage, conveniently leading up to our election when Rupert slips him some money.

He'll joke about taking us over or say something like "maybe we'll let China have them", just to demean us.

Then the Libs here will start the fear campaign around China.

Yes it totally about leverage against anyone or any entity that dare push back. And with Musk it was also be for person vendettas.

The speed with which social media was flooded with Americans proud of how quickly their military could destroy Canada, if Canada resisted, suggests that being in the good books right now, doesn't mean all that much.

Not across which Republican guys are against Trump, but Rand Paul has given the tariffs a big thumbs down. Hopefully its going to be the first of many.

There’s still 53 blokes in the Senate capable of reining in what’s happening if enough of them have the balls to do so.

Most of them know that Trump’s take on Jan 6 (and the election that preceded it) is bullshit. Several (including even the slimy lizard that is Lindsay Graham) have expressed their opposition to the blanket pardoning. I’d like to think most of them are uncomfortable at the overnight dismantling of the FBI and justice department.

So why not start by refusing to approve Patel to head up the FBI and insisting Trump nominate an alternative that at least understands the FBI works to protect the Constitution and the people and doesn’t report to the Executive Branch.

Just one small step of resistance. Not that hard, surely?

They are all going to be confirmed. Better get use to that one.

I know that. I was just trying to point out the country isn’t yet beyond the point of no return. Even while understanding that the few remaining levees will soon fall in irretrievably.
You would've thought chanting "hang Mike Pence" might've woken them up the first time, but alas
