On the frontpage of Reddit: Would you rather: Go 30 years mostly missing finals but winning one premiership OR go 30 years not winning a premiership but being a contender most seasons?
Premiership is the no brainer?
Any system which ensures that when we next qualify, we don't have to play anyone who finished in the top eight.Out of curiosity, what’s your ideal finals set up?
The double-chance is awesome. Australia got it right. The world is wrong.and another reason for my ongoing crusade against the 'double chance' in finals, which I think is one of the stupidest things about this league
I agree. 30 years is a very long time to suck.Nope. I would rather go with the perennial contender.
The question is on the lesser of two evils: a choker or a lucky bottom-dweller? Glenelg or South Adelaide?
I don’t want to be stuck at the bottom for three decades. Not even for a single Premiership.
Double elimination with a loser's bracket? The double-chance is awesome. Australia got it right. The world is wrong.
For tournaments without a minor round, maybe. The Double Chance for Top-4 teams makes the Minor Round matter more.Double elimination with a loser's bracket?
Yep. Under our logo in Latin.'At least we're not the Saints' could be our club motto. It's basically the standard we are judged against internally and externally.
SANCTI NON SUMUSYep. Under our logo in Latin.
This is starting to feel a lot like the Gibbs deal.

The Crows have whipped up a Rankine frenzy via leaks to their media ambassadors that it's done.
They can't afford to miss him now.
If GC (and Rankine) hold firm they can make them pay through the nose.

Knockout finals work fine for every other sporting league in the world, why wouldn't they work fine for ours?Out of curiosity, what’s your ideal finals set up?
That's not a strength. It's so arbitrary. Why is finishing 1st v 2nd basically the same, but finishing 4th v 5th a massive difference? For tournaments without a minor round, maybe. The Double Chance for Top-4 teams makes the Minor Round matter more.
Unfortunately I agree.GC will fold, they always do.
They are a feeder club.
More likely when Essendon said, "what if you were coached by Clarko?"He found out he would have to play alongside Walker.
We've choked way too many time in finals, way too many. This supporter base has been put through the ringer in September.
The NRL used to have this format. Worked fine until the in the 2000s when 8th beat 1st in two successive years, giving the 8th placed team home finals advantage from then. Following that they adopted the same system the AFL now uses.Knockout finals work fine for every other sporting league in the world, why wouldn't they work fine for ours?
1st v 8th, 2nd v 7th, 3rd v 6th, 4th v 5th. Losers out, highest ranked winner plays the lowest ranked loser. If the AFL are worried about losing a week of finals for commercial reasons or because they don't want a higher ranked team going out after one bad game, make the first round of games a two-leg series soccer style.

I would have put money on the bulldogs having a few games with 4 x 300 gamers, Grant, West, Smith and Johnston and also the crows a few games with 3, Mcleod, Edwards and Ricciuto.
Maybe he’ll wait another year?
