Just had a look at the ESPN footy tipping site - 22 people (out of 810,677) picked the 9 winners and nearly 200 picked 8/9. Most of these people are still way behind the leading tipsters though, so it must've been the old infinite number of monkeys doing their tips.

How the ****. Even if you went for a round of opposites, you still had 2 or 3 games that went to script.

For me, once I get a certain amount behind the leaders (say 10-20 tips), I know that the only way for me to catch up is gonna be to pick a bunch of random sides and pray. Because if it comes good, then I catch up to the leaders by 5 tips at a time, but if it doesn't come good then falling further behind doesn't matter anyway, who gives a shit. I don't just pick underdogs, but I pick hail mary types I think are possible.

So it could be people like that - who went fairly random to go against the tips of the leaders, and just happened to have everything come good

Also 800k tipsters there'd be some just more or less picking teams at random, or picking whose logo they like better.

Anyone wanna do the sums on getting 9 50/50s correct in a row?

Edit: so the probability of a 50% chance 9x in a row is 0.5 to the power of 9.. which is 0.001953125

Or.. 0.195%
Which is not that rare. Basically 2 in 1000 chance.

That's assuming that the 900k tipping pool all did it completely at random, which they didn't.

For 22 people to get 9/9 you only need about 11k people tipping completely random and some of them will hit.

This will explain why the monkeys didn't get 9/9

Carlton (6:15) and Brisbane (10:18) must be looking at us (10:17) and Hawthorn (12:16) and asking themselves how they're losing and we're winning.

Carlton President and disgraced former PwC Boss Luke Sayers is having something of a winter of discontent, with his old company PwC knee-deep in muck and the football club over which he presides, Carlton, struggling through a losing season that had promised so much and is pushing the patience of its long-suffering fans past breaking point.

But before we feel too sorry for the impeccably connected corporate and government fixer, consider this: Sayers will soon leave his troubles behind, or so he hopes, with a long-planned, extended European holiday.

Just as the PwC scandal is starting to heat up, Sayers is ready to lock up his mansion in Hawthorn and jet off with his wife Cate to Italy.

16,000 hours of TV, it is now time to work in business hours and have a bit of flexibility to focus more on our big family and the family business. And frankly, my football club as well (Koch is chairman of the AFL’s Port Adelaide),” he continued.

The crows are very efficient when they do go forward - they generally score when they get it into their forward line, especially at AO. We have been somewhat lucky to play teams that are not.

Thebarton residents will stage a Tuesday protest at Parliament House against the Crows’ planned AFL and AFLW move to Kings Reserve at Thebarton.
Infrastructure Minister Tom Koutsantonis will be given a petition signed by around 5500 residents who want changes to the current plan, to save trees and open space.

Spokeswoman for the 5031 Action Group of residents, Emma Dawes, said the purpose of the protest on Tuesday was to “draw scrutiny regarding the responsible use of government money” to locate the Crows in their area.

“Our petition urges the Government not to provide public funding to the Adelaide Football Club to develop the Thebarton Oval/Kings Reserve Precinct unless there is commitment from the AFC to adopt an alternate design and preserve almost all of the 150 mature trees on Kings Reserve,” she said.

Note the Boycott Toyota placard in Port Power colours - it's a conspiracy by those toothless ferals from Alberton!

Maybe they can build a tree house for their club rooms

“The Crows should return to a single oval proposal, similar to what they put forward in Brompton, significantly reduce the impact on community by allowing us to retain half of our beautiful park, with 90 per cent of the tree canopy, and cut the bill they are asking taxpayers to fund.”

Why did the crows suddenly demand a 2 full size oval development at the Thebarton site given they were happy with just one in both their Parklands and Brompton plans?

Other than 'because they knew they'd be able to get away with it'.

Here we have a club that likes to think of itself as an elite footy club of the people making a land grab of epic proportions in a section of the inner west of Adelaide where there is f-all green space to begin with. They have simply zero interest of being part of the community where they are wanting to put their so-called 'home' is what I'm seeing here.

A smart club interested in being a part of the local community would surely have adopted a 2 stage long term development Stage 1 - build the facilities and a single oval on the site first and embrace the locals to make it work - sharing the rewards of success with them. Stage 2 - move on to plans for the second oval having convinced the local community that you actually give AF about their needs, have resolved traffic and parking issues and want to share the space.

But the Crows are not and have never been smart or inclusive.
